I feel as though I have a lot to say about this place so please bear with me. From the moment I arrived at Kaivalya and I was greeted by Arpita's warm smile I knew this was a place of love and light. I studied the level one month long intensive yoga course here from Jan-Feb 2015. My yoga knowledge... More

I had an amazing experience at Kaivalya. The accommodations are simple, functional, and comfortable. As a long-term traveller, I appreciate places where I can settle in and feel "at home" rather than feeling like a guest. The facilities reflect the reality of living in Guatemala - barking dogs, loud music, lush greenery, and an intimate family vibe. I found all... More

This was the best yoga course I have done in 2 years since starting my practice. The people, ashram, Arpita and Arjuna were great support and wonderful teachers on my path. Very grateful that this yoga school is run from the best intentions and preserves true teachings as opposed to many schools out there that are commercial and competitive.

I just completed the one month yoga intensive at Kaivalya. The program is amazing and Arjuna is a master teacher. This intensive will inform and change your yoga and meditation practices. It is hard to rate the ashram as the program is much better than the place in which it is offered. San Marcos is one of the noisier towns... More

Dear D., It has been a real pleasure having you as a part of the last One-Month Yoga Intensive Course at Kaivalya, we are glad you had found a more appropriate lodging after staying for three days in the ashram's simple conditions so you could participate in the course while spending your free-time in a more upscale environment. The ashram... More

Kayvalia is a great place to practice yoga and meditation and I am so grateful for everything I learned during my one month course. Sejourning through Central America with a good friend of mine, everyone on our path were recommending us to head to San Marcos. We couldn't ignore all those San Marcos messages coming our way so we decided... More

I did the one month yoga course at kaivalya. With Arjuna and Arpita. Beautiful place. Beautiful people. Beautiful yoga. I didn't also get to stay there, it was booked out. I wish I had. It was a much more peaceful and loving atmosphere than where I ended up staying. I cannot give an ordinary review for this place. It is... More

We wanted to stay the whole Christmas Week there but we had to check out earlier, for some reasons. The first was our room. We had the room downstairs, which gave us the feeling of sleeping in a basement. Dark and cold, and full of hudge spiders. I caught the flu after one night, even 2 more blankets wouldn't make... Hello dears, We are really sorry you had such an experience at Kaivalya. There was no one else with such complaints for the entire season (if at all). We are happy to explain and address your issues so they are a bit more clear: - Usually we have no availability for short-term stays at all from November until April (high... More

My wife and I checked this place out for their lunch. They have a different lunch offer every day, though you don't really have any list to choose from. Whatever they make, that is it. You need to book your space no later than 9am (we booked a day in advance) and it costs Q30 per person. Food was delicious... More

I booked one month intensive yoga course already in December and was lucky to get a room in this lovely ashram. Located on the hill this place has a nice view to the lake. Rooms are simple and kitchen has everything for cooking. There is also internet access in retreat what makes difference especially if you stay for a long... More
