Reviews alone cannot do Monte Azul justice! I had been to Monte Azul once before for dinner a couple of years ago and was blown away by the beauty and uniqueness of this place, so when we got engaged last year I knew immediately where I wanted to have our small wedding ceremony. Monte Azul was gracious enough to host... More

I spent three wonderful days hiking the grounds and painting on my porch while my husband climbed Cerro Chirripo. The accomidations and grounds are beautiful, the gardens are so well taken care of that just being there is a joy. The staff was amazing, food unbelievable. I felt very well taken care of and my privacy was very nicely respected.Trails... More

Monte Azul is incredibly unique. It started as a place for artists and the sense of design is evident everywhere. The individual villas are spacious and really comfortable (although the porches beg for a hammock...). The open air restaurant, with its stunning hand-painted blue glass bar was even better than we imagined - the food was the best of our... More

My husband and I spent 7 days at Monte Azul and we loved every minute of it! Here are some highlights from Monte Azul: Service: The service was beyond anything I had ever experienced. Dear Elizabeth W, We get many week-long honeymooners at Monte Azul, and each couple is as charming as the last. Of course, you and your husband were no exception! If you're a fan of hip retro furnishings, art and design (think Mad Men), you'll love Monte Azul. If you're a fan of fresh mountain air and great hiking… you've fond nirvana. The combination is intoxicating... and so are the cocktails at Blu Bar. We only spent two nights at MA but the experience and staff attention was impeccable. Food... More

My girlfriend and I spent 3 days and nights at Monte Azul and in a word, the experience was "magical." A close friend had visited Monte Azul on many occasions so I had heard about the exceptional service, delicious food, and tranquil beauty of Monte Azul, but was still blown away by my experience. Monte Azul is cozy with only... More

I would venture to say that Monte Azul is probably a one-of-a-kind place - and experience. From the five star service and food to the inspiring lines and furnishings of the casitas; the fabulous hikes on the property and nearby to the sustainable, humane approach they take to managing their goat herd; and of course, the art, wildlife, and peace... My wife and I stayed for two night this past August. We made something of a daring hike up and down Chirripo in a single day, and it would not have been possible without the help of the staff.
