Beautiful hotel. Simple living with great and heart of gold staff. Convenient location to the old Kathmandu. A stones throw away to Durbar Square. Quant and lovely courtyard. More than just a hotel. Its home away from home.

This was a great place in a great location with some of the nicest staff your ever going to meet. Felt part of old Kathmandu staying here. The building is a beautiful old timber frame and has most of the original features still in tact. Lovely little court yard in middle. Short walk to Durbar Sq (2 seconds)

Wonderful stay (two separate times) at Newa Chen this past February. They staff are some of the nicest, most accommodating people I truly have ever met, not just at a hotel. They were so friendly our entire stay, and made the effort to have a conversation with you. My 6 foot 3 inch boyfriend had a little issue walking around... More

We loved this hotel. The Newari architecture gave it a wonderful atmosphere and the service was outstanding. The breakfast was generous and in a lovely traditional style room which made it a great experience. Convenient location to the Durbar. Can be a little noisy as it is near the temples and the bell rings when there are prayers but this... More

The Newa Chen has charm, history and caring staff. They anticipate your needs and tend to them before you know you have them. A bottle of water and fruit when you stumble in from a long flight. Breakfast and the paper (no coffee) when you finally decide to leave your warm bed. Traditional bedding and antiques in the alcoves. I... More

This was a special stay. The immaculate restoration of the 350 year old house, the professional and hospitable service of the family that has always owned the house and the proximity of Durbar Square Patan all outshine the conventional places to stay in Kathmandu.

Newa Chen was recommended and did not disappoint. It is a refurbished Newari house that is very intimate with beautiful carved wood and brickwork. The staff was so friendly and welcoming and willing to help in any way and even presented a gift upon departure. We were able to leave luggage while we went on a trek. It is in... More

This hotel is on the pricier end of the scale, but for the location right off of Patan's Dubar Square, and the amenities, including fresh fruit and bottled water in the room, hot showers and ensuite bathrooms, beautiful patio and garden with a small library and area for reading, and included large breakfasts, it is well worth the price tag... Thank you to all who were so kind and helpful when my luggage was lost. I really appreciate the sense of home and comfort you all provided. I am definitely staying with you again when I return to KTM! I cannot possibly recommend a place more!

Very near Patan Durbar Square, Newa Chen is small (8 rooms) and very well run. For example: hot water bottles at night (we were there in December). Breakfast was good, and was NOT the same every day, as in some hotels. The free WiFi worked well. Beds were comfortable. They have a generator for the power-cut times. Earplugs were provided... More
