I stayed for 2 nights in Patan (about a 10minute taxi ride to Kathmandu Thamel area) at Newa Chen (referred to in the Lonely Planet as Shresta Hous). After staying in Thamel for two nights we were looking for something more authentic. Having already visited Bakhtapur we went to Patan's Durbar Square (only about 15 min by Taxi from Kathmandu centre) which is in itself worth visiting: amazing architecture of old buildings giving the visitor a feeling how Nepal looked like hundreds of years ago.
