I stayed here with a group of 44 for nearly a week. It is a pleasant hotel in a quiet location, but is let down by poor service in the public areas, particularly the front desk whose staff seem trained in indifference and are reluctant to take action on the most mundane requests. For example, ''can I book a mountain... More

This is a hotel for which I have a special regard because I have stayed at it on various occasions over a period of some 30 years. Its location is a conveniently short texi ride from Kathmandu and the centre of Patan, just out of the maelstrom of central Kathmandu and enjoying slightly better air. Essentially unpretentious, the bed rooms... More

Was there in March 2015, for business. We have been using this hotel since a few years for our conferences. The service, the good customer service, and food made the stay worthwhile. Rooms are clean, big with excellent views. Also the balconies have very cool couches, which makes sitting and hanging out fun. I had bad tummy there but the... More

Very nice room. It was clean and large. However, I did request a nob-smoking room and was assigned a smoking room, however, it did not smell from cigarette smoke. There were no facecloths in the bathroom. I called the front desk and waited. So I decided to call housekeeping instead. At about 3am there were people shouting to each other. I... More

This is my 5th visit to the hotel.and each time have enjoyed my stay there . The staff are friendly and helpful. The Hotel has a large entrance area/foyer which embraces sofas, seating and a coffee area as well as two good shops. One of these is one where you can buy good quality pashminas as well as other gifts. You... More

My flight was delayed so I emailed the hotel in advance to inform them that I'd be arriving after midnight and they replied to confirm that would be fine. When I arrived, the main gate was locked. The hotel was dark with no one at the reception desk. There was someone snoring in the lobby. My room had a smell... More

This is once again our home in Kathamandu. The rooms on the 4th floor (odd numbers) look out at the mountains and this afternoon the rain cleared and the peaks shined in gold and rose in the afternoon sun. The hotel is very comfortable but simple. Food is just OK and there are better places to eat in the neighborhood.... More

Feel like a member of the upper echelon of society while lodging at HH. Breakfast is immaculate, and there's even coffee! Hot showers, clean rooms and an inviting lobby make this place worth the splurge. Warmer months might enable you to enjoy the pool, too.

Hotel Himalaya would not measure up to the competition if located in many other countries, but relative to others in Nepal, it's a good choice. The location is either good or poor, depending on your preference; it's away from the chaos of central Kathmandu, quiet and spacious; but at the same time only a few shops or restaurants across the... Here on business for four nights, I found this a very comfortable hotel. I particularly appreciated the quiet room, The dining room had a selection of what I would call Indian food, with a soft-pedaled approach to spices. Even the names were westernized (Butter chicken was barbecue chicken, but less spicy than in India). There were also other dishes that... More
