My husband & I stayed 3 nights at La Fortuna & could not have been happier with our choice. It was the perfect start to our 3 week vacation in Guatemala. We arrived by public ferry & the view of La Fortuna was stunning. Nestled in a small private cove, it was peaceful, idyllic & private. We were warmly greeted... More

Our travels from the US took us longer than I expected to get to La Fortuna but it is well worth the effort. The lodge is situated on a private mountainside with their own dock, so you are very isolated. However, the public ferries can take you into numerous small towns within minutes for a very small fare. The staff... More

We had a lovely 2 night stay at la fortuna! my husband and I truly enjoyed a very private luxury weekend. We loved the setting of our lake front casita with candlelight dinners on the front porch, a view straight from a movie. The owners and staff gave us ample privacy while providing first class service. We live in Guatemala... More

Having traveled all of Guatemala and most of Central America, I was convinced that I was an expert on Lake Atitlan, but La Fortuna showed me an entirely new side of the most majestic lake in the Western hemisphere. Stepping off the boat and on to the dock, it took a moment to realize upon what I had stumbled. Steve... More

La fortuna is truly beautiful and unique. The setting is rural but beautiful and the cabins are adorable. They also have a lovely staff that are very helpful and kind. However, this property is not for everyone. Upon arriving we were greeted by Kat who set up a time for dinner that night. We chose to eat at 7:45 so... More

I am a documentary photographer who has been working in Central America for more than a decade. In the course of my job I see some of the worst the world has to offer. Lake Atitlan has been a refuge for me for these past ten years and more. Wherever I am in the world I think of the waters... More

We stayed at La Fortuna for 2 nights and absolutely loved our stay. The lodge is only accessible by boat and has a dedicated dock. The grounds are absolutely lovely; we didn’t leave the hotel our entire stay. There are plenty of little spots around the grounds to lounge and relax and enjoy the view of the lake and surroundings.... More

We stayed at La Fortuna at the end of a very active Guatemalan holiday, and it couldn't have been more perfect. Steve met us at the dock, and showed us to our suite which overlooks the lake. From the minute we saw our room, we knew it would be perfect. The suite was very simple but comfortable, with an outdoor... More

We really enjoyed our time at La Fortuna, and the bungalow that we stayed in had all the right modern touches while maintaining a great balance of being rustic and hidden away. The morning sunrises overlooking the volcano are hard to beat as is the wood fire powered hot tub by the lake. It’s really both a beautiful location and... More
