If you are looking for an isolated experience on Lake Atitlan Terje and his staff at Vulcano Lodge in Jaibalito will provide the perfect environment for you. Jaibilito is a twenty minute ride on one of the local launchas from Panajachel. Local kids will meet the boat and help you with your luggage up the cobblestone path to the gated... More

The village is very small - the hotel is one of the only things going on in the village, other than daily life. Accessible only by boat and on foot from Lake Atitlan, Jaibalito is nestled in a cleft in the side of the mountain off of the lake. When you get to the dock, kids will offer to take... More

We spent 2 weeks traveling Guatemala, most places staying only one night and this was by far the best! We called an hour ahead of time to see if they had a room and they gave us a suite since the place was empty (it was off season.) The views from the porch were absolutely breath taking! There are so... More

A paradise in the real world, tastefully laid out and decorated in each room, garden, common area, so that I could simply stay there for the day not going anywhere. Well prepared multi-course meal changes every evening, flavorful, healthy, plenty to cater large group dining - yes, dinner party every night! Their handmade coffee was the best I've ever had.... This is a great place to stay. The best features include the lodge itself (grounds, gardens, rooms), and the host, Terje. We stayed in the fabulous suite which has a lake and volcano views and we also stayed in one of the larger rooms that has a view of the volcanoes. Both rooms were excellent. I think some of the... I have recently returned from Guatemala in early December 2011 and I also returned to my favorite hotel in this country. Vulcano Lodge is a beautifully secluded hotel with quaint, clean rooms and incredible gardens throughout the entire property. Situated on Lake Atitlan near Panajachel, this hotel overlooks the lake and the three (3) dormant volcanoes across the lake. Boat... More

After reading the glowing reviews of Vulcano Lodge on TripAdvisor we were quite frankly disappointed with our visit. The accommodations are clean, large, and situated on a nicely laid-out grounds but otherwise unremarkable. As the lodge is a bit further in-land, the views of the lake and volcano were obscured. There are other lodges (Casa del Mundo and Lomas de... More

We spent the night of Christmas Eve here. The room was well apportioned with very comfortable beds and despite the celebratory fireworks all around, we slept very soundly, mainly due to the excellent dinner that Terje, our jovial Norwegian host provided that evening - a culinary bonanza combining the best of fresh Guatemalan seafood and tender succulent meats - and... We decided to go there for Xmas as too far to go at home :( We chose the place with some doubts in case the hotel was overrated, as I couldn’t believe didn’t have a single bad review, but in our arrival we could see easily why. The place is not only spectacular in beauty and without doubt Jaibalito provide... More

we just spent three wonderful nites in the Vulcano Lodge with Terje and his staff. We cannot say enough good things about our entire experience. We are already planning to come back next year and bring our friends. We highly recommend Vulcano Lodge and rate it with the best 5 star hotel anywhere. Tim & Donna K More
