We stumbled upon the farm on hostel world and decided to give it a try. Before arriving, I was able to email with Sabrina to find out more about Drake bay and to finalize plans and transportation needs, as it can be a little tricky. Sabrina was very helpful and quick to respond. Upon arriving to Drake bay, Edu picked... More

I had the pleasure of staying at Rio Drake Farm in January 2014, and found it to be a well kept secret with many beautiful surprises. The rooms are clean, hammocks are plentiful, and the food was delicious. It's a very low-key spot to truly get away and enjoy nature. Transportation is a bit tricky, but Edu and Sabrina are... More

We have stayed at Rio Drake farm for three nights. The two of us together with our one year old child. It was really one of the best experiences of our Costa Rica holidays. The true Costa Rica. The place is a nice get away, no electricity... Back to basics. :-) The rooms together with the hammocks allow for some... More

I stayed for 3 nights in the dormitory and I had a great time. Rio Drake Farm is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful aspects of nature close to the place where you sleep. During my stay I saw turtles, caymans, a crocodile, macaws, a snake, toucans and a lot of birds and reptiles close to the... More

We stayed at Rio Drake Farm for 5 nights during our CR trip and we loved every single day! The cozy huts, the hammocks, the sunsets, the walks through the jungle during which we were accompanied by white-face and howler monkeys and aras, the miles long beaches all for ourselves... There is no hot water and only limited electricity which,... More

We found Sabrina and Edu great hosts and now consider them friends. The rooms were rustic but clean and were cleaned every day by Sabrina. Cool water showers were quickly adjusted to and felt so good at the end of a hot, humid day. The food was simple but amazing. Sabrina and edu cook up local delights with a lot... More

Rio Drake Farm is a very small hostel right next to the airport (and by "airport" I mean landing strip and two tiny buildings) in Drake Bay. It is the perfect place to go for a departure from the touristic areas in Costa Rica. Edu and Sabrina were the nicest hosts ever - seriously good people, solid, smart, and really... More

Rio Drake Farm is the place to go for people who appreciate caring hosts, (some) remoteness, and a beautiful scenery. Value for money and food are great. Try to top that! But if you don't like having a 3-km stretch of a gorgeous beach all to yourself then don't go there.

During what was supposed to be a quick visit to Drake Bay, I was lucky enough to stumble upon Rio Drake Farm. Edu & Sabrina are such wonderful and genuine people. They booked excursions and drove me into town whenever needed. If I wanted to fish, the rods were waiting! If I wanted to lay in a hammock all day... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to a natural place full of tranquility, peace and biodiversity. Hammocks under traditional roofs of palm leaves, a lonesome sandy beach and the location next to the forest, a lagoon and the ocean are the perfect combination for relaxing from everyday live.During day and night you are surrounded by sounds of nature: The chirping of cicadas, the croaking of frogs and toads, the howls and screams of monkeys, scarlet macaws, parrots, kingfishers, herons and many other birds and mammals. In the restaurant we prepare fresh food, including fresh fish from here, BBQ or vegetarian meals. If you wish to cook your own meals, we have a basic kitchen for rent. At the dining platform you have an amazing view to the Caño Island, the ocean, the beach and the lagoon in front. In the evenings, you can enjoy beautiful sunset sceneries at a very natural setting. The rooms all come with a private bathroom. Day light and fresh air enter in a natural way. Wall paintings of the animals around this area help you to learn about the wildlife of the National Park. At night, candles provide romantic light in the rooms and a solar panel enables reading in the hammocks. ... more   less
