Portuguese couple. We just returned from Costa Rica. Hopefully we found "La palapa" ! It's the best place you can be to know the Pacific coast and the forest rain nearby. The accommodations are clean and well decorated. The resort is magnificent and beautiful with a very nice garden and untouched surroundings. Every morning you have the visit of lots of... More

My sister and I stayed at La Palapa from Jan 14-19 2013. I can not say enough about the wonderful hospitality from the owners Cristina, Manuel and Tomas! Our stay felt like they had nearly adopted us. Kristina helped book the tours and activities that we wanted to go to and Manuel helped us with transportation and told us where... More

My father and I traveled Costa Rica for 10 days and spend 4 nights here. The grounds are vast and beautiful. We saw lots of wildlife just sitting by the pool. the food was delicious and was always a surprise, Christina is an amazing cook and extremely personable. I would recommend that you rent a car when staying here because... More

A friend and i stayed for four nights and were absolutely happy with the place. With the car it is only a short ride to Manuel Antonio and Uvita. Furthermore, in only 3 min one can go Matapalo and the best beach I visited in Costa Rica. Beautiful, no people and endless! If you are there, go for a horse... More

Stayed for four nights with wife and toddler son in spacious, clean, bright bungalow. Christina and Manuel were friendly, engaging and helpful. Had three course meal dinner the first night and it was delicious - check the prices before you decide to stay for dinner. Breakfast buffet was convenient and lovely and included. Rooms were clean, grounds were very beautiful... More

I stayed here for 5 nights with my wife and 2 kids (3 and 6 year old).... We loved the area, Matapalo beach, the local soda's, etc... The resort was clean, we stayed in a bungalow withal fridge that came in handy. The resort pool was warm and clean. We had to have some laundry done and found it very... More

We stayed here 4 nights and we had a good time. The resort is really remote, but if you have your own car that is no problem at all. Situated between Quepos/Manuel Antonio and Dominical/Uvita it's an ideal place if you want to travel around. Both Manuel Antonio and National Park Marina Balleno (both worth your time!) are at 30... Great Bungalows with kitchen and hot showers sleep 4 with private patio in beautiful gardens. Take menu plan as Carolina cooks great Portugese food dinners $15. Waterfall limited access a must. Playa Linda deserted beach 4 km away Secluded near local village experience. Bring bug spray. Needs more trails to walk.

Cristina and her staff gave us a warm and friendly welcome and created for us the most wonderful Portugese (!)/Tico dishes ... Our bungalow was generous, squeaky clean, bright and colourful with a very personal touch of native art. No A/C maybe, but the natural ventilation and the fans keep you nice and cool. Breakfast is opulent and nicely presented in... More

I stayed here with a friend for two nights. We arrived at night which made it hard to see the sign but luckily I had a phone card and Christina gave me accurate directions and even cooked us a delicious late dinner (chicken carbonara). It is almost a kilometer east of the coastal highway, in the small town of Portalon,... More
