As a single mother, full time college student, and caretaker to my 85 y.o. mother who has Alzheimer's, I was in desperate need of some stress relief, nurturing and pampering. I chose the Amara based on their onsite yoga and spa services for de-stressing. I traveled the 60 miles from my home to their property. The problems started when I... more

Sedona is a beautiful part of the world and the location of the Amara Resort blends well with this wonderful town. The Resort is very conviently located right in the middle of town, so great location - able to walk to a large selection of eateries. We booked our room the day before direct via the hotels website for US$190... more

This place is a motel. The only resort spa thing about it is the price. Ugly small pool, tiny home gym. Rooms are aveage for the price. Down the valley location - not scenic at all. Sedona is horribly overpriced but this place takes the cake. more

I went to Sedona with 3 girlfriends for our annual fall getaway. I've been to Sedona twice before and stayed at Amara 3 years ago as well. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are well appointed and sufficiently large. They now charge a $20 room "service charge" that covers tips for the bellman and housekeepers as well as a... more

From our experience at the Amara, my husband & I don't believe this hotel and spa should be allowed to rate themselves a 4 star resort. Starting at check in, as the bellman took us to our room, the carpeted hallway was wet & smelled dank. Inside the room we found multiple problems all having to do with a lack... more

I read a lot of positive reviews but must say, this was a peculiar place. We booked the best creekside suite but found many quirks at this hotel. First, we checked into our suite and were thirsty... no water available. There was an empty fridge. With such a romantic setting, we thought we'd just order some champagne or wine and... more

Overall it was a real pleasure to spend a few nights at Amara Resort. We did not know much about the uptown location and were pleasantly surprised by the proximity to local restaurants and shops just uphill, and a scenic creekside area below that was so mellow even the ducks were nodding off. Oak Creek Canyons rec. areas are just... more

This is my fourth stay at the Amara and unfortunately, my last. The hotel's location in Uptown is good, rooms are quite nice with an open, contemporary feel. This year we stayed in the creekside king with jacuzzi. The bigger bathroom was a plus. However, the room was missing half its furniture. Go figure. My biggest complaint about this hotel... more

I work for a luxury hotel and spa at home, so I'm a little picky. The Amara had some pros and cons. Pros: * We had a lovely creekside suite with a great jacuzzi tub and 3 balconys with a view of the creek. The bed was comfortable, too. * It was quiet and the housekeeping was timely and seemed... more

We booked and stayed there 7/2 to 7/5/09. We were given ROOM 120. By 10:30pm we began to turn in for the night. We had removed the bedspread as usual. As we settled under the sheet and blanket, there was a putrid odor of DEAD FISH, STALE URINE, AND STALE FECES! We jumped out of bed, I lifted up the... more
