My wife and I recently stayed for five nights. I can not say enough good things about this place. The ranch is so beautiful. Our room was spacious with a fireplace and a sitting area. The food is absolutely fantastic and Raymond the chef is outstanding. Every meal is served to you individually. Dinner entrees included chicken, swordfish, hangar steak,... More

We can't say enough for this place! The owners and staff were super friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was fantastic and the history of the ranch was very, very interesting. The stars go on forever and the night we were there the moon was the highlight of the evening after the delicious dinner. Be sure to make this a destination... More

My husband and I went to the ranch to help us get through a rough time in our lives...the first anniversary of my father's death. Richard and Veronica made us feel welcome and at ease immediately. We went on 4 incredible horseback rides with wrangler Brad, and picked up some great riding tips. Raymond's cooking had us in seventh heaven.... More

We stayed here this last weekend and are already making plans to return after tax season. We live in Tucson, but still enjoy getting away to the desert beauty and tranquility of this area. If you enjoy history or early architecture or landscape or birds or peace and quiet - it is all here!! Oh yes, don't forget Raymond's great... More

We spent two nights at the ranch and loved every minute of it. It's very quiet and in the middle of no where! At night you can see so many stars. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the food amazing. They ring a dinner bell to let you know meals are being served. Breakfast is at 8am and dinner... More

Classic early Arizona! Wonderful people, great horses, starry skys. The food is memorable. If you have an opportunity to enjoy the ranch once, you'll find a way to go again. It's a place of tranquility. Each visitor is welcomed like family coming home. We'll be going again in the spring.

My husband and I recently stayed here to celebrate my 30th birthday and had a wonderful time! I had been very busy at work and didn't want a large celebration so we decided to do something quieter and I'm glad we did! First off, they are pet friendly and had no problem with us bringing our two small dogs. They... More

High class ranch run and staffed by foodies and animal lovers. We stayed for 6 nights in low season and this was an ideal romantic retreat, so much so that we got engaged here! The ranch buildings and environs are beautiful, full of authentic period character - no pastiche here, all very tasteful. You won't find the latest mod-cons in... More

I'm booked for my 5th visit this coming December and am already counting the days. Nestled in the natural and overwhelming beauty of the desert: Rancho De La Osa is an emerald oasis. Each room is artistically crafted to reflect the southwest. The hacienda transports you back to the time of the old west. The courtyard's fountain gurgles softly, and... More

Top notch in every respect. Not to be missed. The horses are in great condition and very sweet. The bird watching is excellent right on the ranch grounds. The night skies are black with brilliant stars. The hacienda is an historic treasure. The color schemes and fabrics are vivid and rich. The furniture and art work are more treasures. The ranch... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the late 1600's, the fertile Altar Valley was settled by Spanish Jesuits. Father Eusebio Francisco Kino and his followers built a mission outpost on what is now our ranch. Still standing and in use, this rare historic adobe structure is considered to be the oldest building in Arizona. Today it serves as a peaceful gathering place for guests to mingle and relax. Rancho De La Osa or 'Ranch of the She Bear' is one of the last great Spanish Haciendas still standing in America. In 1921 Louisa Wade Wetherill, who is still considered one of the foremost Navajo historians, came south looking for a lost tribe of Navajos. She never found them, but she started Hacienda De La Osa Guest Ranch on Thanksgiving Day, 1924. We are a private, intimate Guest Ranch, with 18 Territorial-style guest rooms. Each guest room has a private bath and most have a wood-burning fireplace. All guests are within a short stroll to the pool, hot tub, hiking, Wildlife Refuge and corrals. Enjoy Southwestern dining in our romantic, historic hacienda dining room, secluded outdoor courtyard or under the stars at a cookout! We have a Cantina with full liquor license and carry an extensive wine list, premium tequilas and a margarita you won't soon forget! You will enjoy choice cuts of meat, innovative entrees, fresh, crisp greens and vegetables and decadent desserts. We are happy to cook vegetarian or low fat--just let us know before you arrive. Rancho De La Osa is a truly special place that rejuvenates the spirit and invigorates the soul. We hope you will visit soon! ... more   less
