I stayed 2 nights at Cave Creek Ranch with my birding group in early August. Our stay could not have been more pleasant. The lodging is basic but very adequate and pleasantly on the homey side. The grounds are well managed to attract birds and therefore birders, yet the beauty of the surroundings would appeal to everyone. Reed, the proprietor... More

thia place reminds me of a mini national park lodge, don't go there expecting all new furnishings, but do go there knowing there is world class scenery, immaculate rooms and excellent customer service. reed never seems to tire of answering all your questions and really seems to enjoy the conversation, he is very knowledgeable of area birding and an excellent... Our family group of 6 people shared the 3 adjoining Juniper apartments. We maneuvered among the 3 small kitchens to cook our shared meals, which we ate on the private patio that faces the dry creek bed. The bird watching was superb, of course, given the location and the wonderful efforts of the Cave Creek Ranch owners to keep all... More

This place was the highlight of our trip to Arizona. It feels like you're stepping back in time to a place where the pace of life is different, and you're fitting in with the wildlife and landscape rather than the other way around. Birds and animals abound - which the children loved to see and be close to. There is... More

We made our first visit to Cave Creek Ranch in early Feb. and will be going again this weekend to see the Elegant Trogon and the other great birds there for spring. We were quite surprised on our first visit by the sheer volume and diversity of birds. There are tons of deer, javelina and even coati on property to... More

Cave Creek Ranch was far better than I had anticipated. The location is superb, being well within the canyon and has great views of the canyon. The ranch has excellent accommodation which is spacious and the well equipped. There are feeders for the birds and local wildlife which are well used, plus the cottages have their own supply of food... More

If you're wanting to get out into the wilderness without a tent (we do NOT camp) this is just an amazing place. I loved the feeling of being disconnected from TV, the constant barrage of advertising in the cites, cell phones and the internet etc... I felt like I was in a Disney movie with birds flying around my head... More

This was my first time to Cave Creek Ranch (Oct. 11- 14) and my girlfriend and I had an absolutely wonderful time. The variety of birds and animals was amazing. The room was comfortable and the bed firm like l like it. But best of all was the gorgeous scenery. I'm a runner and the road into the park is... More

We stayed at the Cave Creek Ranch when we were in Portal Arizona for a birding trip. There are several buildings each having several rooms and one stand-alone cabin. We stayed in an end unit by the creek; not luxurious but very comfortable. Very relaxing stay and you can watch the birds when Reed Peters, the owner and manager, puts... More

It should tell you something about the place that there is a token entry fee for people who are not *staying* there to come in and visit the grounds. It's one of the birdiest places in a very birdy place. CCR has feeders of several kinds that invite in all sorts of birds (as well as deer and javalinas, for... More
