Leslie - I'd like to clarify a few things for you... 1) The resort fee includes much, much more than internet, pool, parking, local calls and 1 snack per day! It is not a hidden fee as you state - it's mentioned on every site out there, in big bold print, and it includes the following: * covered parking (other... More

From the minute I walked in the front door I felt I belonged. The staff at the front desk was friendly, warm, helpful, and solicitous of my needs. They made suggestions on where to eat, what to see, and even Wednesday night entertainment. The view from the roof top is awesome, especially as the sun is setting. The pool area... More

The pool was always packed, which is fine by me. I hate to see hotel pools go to waste. The onsite restaurant/bar is pretty good, a little overpriced, but that's what you get for a hotel restaurant. Its an independent hotel chain, and the staff was friendly. However, their concierge services weren't really all that helpful. More

Agree with all other reviewers -- great location, amazing food, hip hotel. But I want to add that it's kid friendly too. I was just there with my 5 year old daughter and she enjoyed the pool, the flamenco dancers and the snacks. Great small independent hotel. So glad we stayed here instead of a chain hotel; much more personality... More

We found the Clarendon during a New Years stay 2011-12. The pool was terrific, friendly guests & lots of lounging options. Was it beat up or worn? Let me say this: YOU try staying out in the Phoenix sun for more than one season and not look a little worse for it!! Re: wifi, I had no trouble. There were... More

I tend to visit more frequently when on business meeting colleagues for lunch at the amazing restaurant. I do love to stay there just to relax. Nice beds, friendly staff who always remember the regulars, but also treat first timers with the same friendly demeanor. I have become quite fond of the otter pops so much I've tried to find... More

The Clarendon is just a fantastic property. The crowd are diverse, hip urbanites and the decor is very artsy-'70s. We will absolutely be back to this property and loved the little amenities, such as late-night snacks and a hot tub that seemed longer than a football field. Fun decor that brings retro design into 2012. The restaurant and lobby bar... More

Ultra-hipster hotel with a few genuine touches of comfort (outstanding beds and bedding, nice terrycloth robes) and a whole lot of figurative smoke and mirrors (there's an actual paucity of mirrors, as well as lighting. What can I say? Dim lighting and bright orange walls are the hipster hotel's best friends.) If you're intending to do a lot of work... More

Thank you for your review Colleen... I appreciate it! I hear you loud and clear... we checked the wifi and our connection is up to 30mb/sec at most times, so I'm not sure why it was slow for you, but I personally installed an additional access point and range extender in one of the guest rooms that was getting a... Pros: comfy bed, awesome TV, brightly colored walls, nice Keurig, good bathroom products, I-phone alarm clock, neatly decorated. The pool looked nice, although I didn't have time to try to it out. Cons: heater was loud and hard to figure out, I was never offerred these free snacks everyone has talked about. I asked the clerk where I could eat,... More

Thank you for your review... we appreciate all of your positive comments! To respond to your cons: * The heating and air conditioning is a pretty advanced system, and it does take a few minutes for heat to start coming out - we'll start putting signs up for the next cool season, since we're just about to start air conditioning... We stayed the night with our two children. They loved the pool, and at night, with the lights, what's not to love. Its cool. Bottom line, except for the insane tax they charge for rental cars and hotels in Phoenix, it was a great value. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clea More

Thank you so much for your review - I agree taxes on hotels and rental cars are pretty insane here, but at least our state will have a $1.5 billion budget surplus this year.... so perhaps those taxes will be reduced soon. I appreciate your review, and hope that you continue to stay with us on future visits to Arizona...... More
