We came here on a quick overnight just to get away. The restaurant, though limited in menu, was incredible. Everyone here, from the front desk staff, the wait staff and the managers, were friendly and helpful and eager to please. Loved the pool and large spa, and the deck chairs. Very impressed with the room too--the finest of linens made... more

My husband and I needed a hotel room for one night only after a trip to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, AZ. Luckily for us, he picked The Clarendon Hotel. The decor is sort of like a mini-Phoenix MOMA. The hotel and rooms are decorated throughout with funky/fun art. Our king-size bed was super comfy and plush. The swimming pool... more

During some particularly hairy home renovations, I decided to book a room at the Clarendon to give my 9-year old son and a visiting friend a bit of a break. I've spent many fun evenings on the rooftop and restaurant, but had never been a guest - and I am glad I listened to my impulse! The room was very... more

It's 107 degrees in the shade outside. The pool here at the Clarendon is rocking, but you don't what to go out there. You don't even want to LOOK out there. The green water. The pasty flesh. The cigarette smoke and tattoos. Groooovy, Baaaaaaaby. I haven't been here long, but the Cliff's Notes are as follows: I've done a better... more

The property reminded me of a really high end youth hostel, if there was such a place. Not that there were that many young people, just something about the finishes and vibe. I was OK with all that. The hotel is beginning to show its age though, in some of the fabrics (the poolside bed mattresses are splitting from the... more

Thank you very much for the great review. The pool beds did indeed have some tears in the fabric, but we're happy to report that they were just repaired by a seamstress and look fabulous again. We're always in a state of improvement and are always working to make your experience at The Clarendon better. Currently, we're in the midst...

I live in the Phoenix area and anytime I want a "staycation", I always choose the Clarendon Hotel. I've always gotten excellent customer service and the rooms and pool are wonderful! It's modern and classy, but not pretentious. As others have said, the downside is that it isn't really near anything too exciting (shopping, nightlife, etc) nearby. Aside from that,... more

There are two kinds of Arizona visitors: those who want a real flavor of Phoenix, and those who want to shop and buy ceramic Chile peppers. If the latter is you, stay in Scottsdale. If you want the real deal, complete with true Mexican food, downtown culture and sipping margaritas poolside, the Clarendon is for you. Located dead center in... more

We visited the pool at the hotel because we had purchased gift certificates for use at the hotel's restaurants. Once we ordered food, we were told that the new restaurant would not accept the gift certificates. When we pushed back because the hotel had issued them and they were signed with an expiration date of 2010, the owner of the... more

I really feel that this review is misdirected as it is about a restaurant experience for which we are neither the owners or operators of, but will respond to the best of my ability... I'm sorry to hear about your experience - the certificates you purchased were not valid and came from a source that we never authorized to sell...

It's obivous the owners who re-did this hotel didn't want to spend tons of money re-doing the facade or updating the physical look of the hotel to be more modern. But that's what I loved about it! The rooms were modern and clean. The pool and hot tub were amazing. The decor was really cute, without being exclusive. The roof-top... more

Thank you for the wonderful review - we appreciate it! We're always improving and making things better, so be sure to come back as we refine the property. Right now we're installing a new state of the art air conditioning/heating system, which is being done building-by-building so no guests will be disturbed. Again, thanks for the wonderful review - it's...

I have stayed at the Clarendon a few times over the last 4 years, even when it was very rough around the edges. What made me return? It was the great staff and now (finally!) great hotel that keep me coming back. The Clarendon is the only interesting place to stay in Central Phoenix, and it's in the heart of... more
