My husband and I randomly found The Hotel San Carlos on Google. Looked like an interesting place, given the history, so we decided to give it a try as we were looking for something downtown and close to the airport for our flight out the next day. Our room was small but nicely decorated and clean. The bathroom although clean... More

The bed was rock hard. Room was nearly 85 degrees. Was scalded in shower twice. Could here pipes banging in the middle of night. Front desk was rude and would not waive $50 cancellation fee. Hopefully I don't get bed bugs from this terr

Came in to enjoy some class, however upon arrival it took a few minutes while Erika finished her text to realize I was there. Eventually I got to my room, which was very nice, a little small but still lovely, but when I went to call the front desk I had to deal with Erika again, who had apparently developed... More

I booked this hotel for a business trip. I read the reviews on line and it seemed like a really neat place to stay because of all the history of the place. The hotel was built in 1928 and has lots of charm. I was hoping the room would be more up to date. The thing that was most frustrating... More

We recently spent 2 nights at the Hotel San Carlos and found it very comfroatable and clean. It was a nice change from the major chains we normally stay in. Not real fancy but clean and quiet. Excellent hospitality--- the employess treated us like royalty... very pleased! The history of the San Carlos is intriguing.. made us wonder what famous... More

I had heard this hotel was haunted. I was skeptical. I was reassured the rumors were true. The first night started with me hanging a Ghostbusters sign on the lamp as a joke. The lamp immediately burned out. For fun, we downloaded a ghost app. It showed ghosts in and out of our room. Sometimes you would feel a chill... More

I make my living booking travel for student groups. One of my clients repeat their booking at Hotel San Carlos every year for a Conference. As can happen when working with groups, there was a misunderstanding of the date for check in. It was off by one week. Angela was so very gracious in fixing the problem by moving my... More

A friend and I stayed here to be near the convention center downtown. Both of being Arizona history buffs were pleased to see all of the historic pictures, stories around the entire property. The staff was knowledgeable about the hotel and easily directed us to places to eat in the area. Yes, the rooms are old (what do you expect,... More

The Hyatt is directly across from the convention center. Choose this hotel to save some money. It opened in 1928. It has been remodeled recently, but they were not able to upgrade the small bathrooms. So, while ok for business on a budget, would not recommend for a romantic getaway. Two blocks to the convention center and can walk to... More
