The San Carlos is just as convenient to the Phoenix convention center as the large chain hotels nearby. And its rates are lower. Plus some people love the historic charm and the quaint room furnishings. Beds were fine and street noise wasn't bad. However, any room is going to have its little quirks. You have to decide if they are... More

I am absolutely amazed by this hotel. Their staff is very friendly, and they dedicate so much time and money to keep the history of the hotel alive for all generations to come. A majority of the furniture is the original furniture and has been refurbished and well maintained. The rooms were very cleanly, and I did not have any... More

Our group visited Hotel San Carlos a couple of weeks ago for a brief tour. We walked around the lobby and lounge areas. The owner met us at the front door and gave us the history of the hotel, along with some captivating stories! Coordinating this tour (for over 60 people) with the manager and owner was a pleasant experience.... More

I stayed at Hotel San Carlos for 5 nights while attending an activity at the Phoenix Convention Center. The hotel is about a 6 minute easy walk from the convention center and is in a neighborhood with restaurants and shops, close to the larger, more expensive hotels that were officially affiliated with my meeting. I enjoyed my stay and would... More

Upon arrival I had to sign a waiver stating that I agreed to a $50 fee if I left early. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY FIRST CLUE. Any place that requires you to pay to check out early is not a nice place. The room was the size of a dorm room but the bathroom was not as nice as... More

I'm not a picky person, but this place is just plain bad. The people are nice and the location is great, but after that it goes down hill fast. Obviously it's an old place and thus you have to cut it some slack, but for the price I would expect a bit more. The rooms are small, the showers are... More

When I walked into the lobby on Jan 11th and X-mas decorations were still up (fake tree, presents) it should have been a sign. I've stayed quite a bit in vintage hotels in NYC, Chicago, Dallas, so not having everything shiny and new wasn't an issue. But I've worked on submarines and the bathroom was smaller than that on a... We absolutely LOVED our stay here! After this visit we decided this will be a tradition for New Years and we want to come back for spring break and my birthday as well! The bathrooms were stocked with awesome product, a full sized blow dryer, a bottle opener by the shower and HUGE fluffy towels!!! The GM was so nice... More

I had a business meeting at City Scape. I stayed at San Carlos in the past. This is an excellent location and great staff service. Would recommend for anyone to stay here. Also budget friendly for the location.
