Great hotel! I travel a lot for business, and this where I stay when I'm in PHX. Convenient downtown location and very close to the light-rail stop and within walking distance of the sports venues. No, it's not the Hyatt, but when was the last time you thought the Hyatt would be on the National Register of Historic Places? The... More

I can appreciate the charm of this historic property & its location to Phoenix downtown venues is superb. It was clean, good AC, and historically interesting. The staff was accommodating, friendly and really tried to be helpful. However the bathroom was too far gone to be charming, the original subway tile had patched holes from each of the 9 decades... Shocked that the elevator passed inspection. The Rooms are from 1930s. Farley certain that in the room next to us there was a domestic battery or a drug deal gone bad. We called the front desk, and the front desk said he was scared to go up there. And suggested we call the police. Bathrooms sucked. Blankets were army surplus.... More

This historic property on Central Ave. and Monroe St. in downtown Phoenix was built in 1927, and has been carefully preserved, with none of the frills many of us expect from a large hotel. The rooms are small but clean, and the walls are not soundproof. The bathrooms are tiny and very basic, but the beds are comfortable. There are... More

As a fan of pre-Depression era hotels, I enjoyed my stay in this one. Built in 1927, I expect its glory days were short lived, but it is currently well restored (not modernized -- still has original fixtures in the bathroom) and lovingly maintained. Yes, the rooms are small and walls not soundproofed, so noise at night can be a... More

The front desk staff was rude, ineffective, and placed us in a room over a bar which we discovered when the live band started playing. We had to be moved because the noise was so loud. The rooms had tiny showers that did not drain, literally just a toilet bowl and sink. You have absolutely no control over the temperature.... More

Stayed at The San Carlos during the weekend of 7th of July. Comicon was also heald the same weekend, so I could not stay in the hotel I usually stay in. Iunderstand the historical significance of the San Carlo, but would avoid staying here again. The room was small and the bathroom "tiny". Reminded me of staying at a YMCA... More

I stayed one night going to two Dbacks games. The hotel was maybe three square blocks from Chase Field. Even on a blazing hot day it wasn't a bad walk. I was able to find street parking so I didn't have to pay to park the whole weekend. The hotel was a lot of historic charm, apparently the 4th floor... More

Went to Phoenix because I had a convention to attend, it was hot but being from florida, I didn't mind. We chose this hotel because we didn't want to be with the huge crowd that was attending and it was a great deal at $60 per night. When we entered we received a very warm welcoming and lots of friendly... More

I chose this hotel because others close to the convention center were sold out. I do like those different hotels outside the chains that have a special charm. This has the historical value. I have stayed in old hotels like this, but never in these conditions. The worst part was the fact there was no privacy. The walls might as... More
