It was good to get off the main two islands and experience the even more relaxing vibe of the 'no cars and no dogs' island. The family were very welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. Leota (the owner) is very knowledgeable and likes to converse with visitors, often teaching them about... I stayed here for a night by myself and had a horrible experience. I had heard good things about this place from others, so was expecting a really friendly family experience. Instead when I arrived I found the place deserted with only the "brother in law" and his 2 year old son and cousins (all male) around. When I arrived... More

Fa'a means Samoan way of life. Escape the tourist traps of Upolu and see something more traditional: an island with no cars! The owners and family were so proud to have us stay and thanked us for visiting them. It was one of the best value places we stayed; they picked us up in their boat at Manono-uta wharf, gave... I only booked a few nights for my first visit to sunset fales- nothing worse than being stuck on an island if its not to your liking....I cant wait to visit again, I really liked my room, great view, with a balcony, table and chairs, the room was spacious with a comfortable bed and my own bathroom. The owners were... More

The island is a little special place. No cars and a lot of tradition. The owner's son showed us around to Mt. Tulimanuiva. It was a funny walk up there, with some coconuts as provisions. The units are comfortable little houses, that do not have the charm of traditional fales. Unfortunately there is no real beach, just a small port.... More

I spent 2 nights with this wonderful family who were warm and friendly and the food was to die for. The people are wonderful, the island beautiful, and while there are no starving dogs they DON'T feed their cats and this TOTALLY ruined my stay. Also I was told a new law on the island meant pigs could no longer... More

Tropical paradise- that is the isolated small island, although the beaches are nothing special. But staying with the local family was the best experience I had for a start. The owner is a family chef and can tell you a lot of interesting stories. The food was great, specialy made the traditional way on the heated rocks in the earth.

This little family owned place is a real gem! The island has no motorized vehicles and no dogs, and it is so small that you can stroll around it along the coast in about 1½ hour. The fales are not traditional open Samoan fales, but little huts with mosquito netted windows and a little porch where you can sit and... More

I spent a month at Sunset View with Leota and family. SV is *not* where you want to come if you are looking for a Western-style hotel (I only mention this because of some other reviews that I have seen.): No hot showers, no aircon, no bar, no fitness centre, no WiFi. I would describe the experience as closer to... More
