This was such a nice and small hosteria. They had a restaurant upstairs with a fine breakfast, afternoon tea time and good three course dinner (you can choose two courses too). It was in a quiet area away from the city centre and close to the Lagoon. To walk to the city centre was about 10-15 minutes. It was really... More

When my fiancé Kirt and I arrived at Cauquenes de Nimez in shorts and tshirts (coming straight from hot Buenos Aires, and the airline lost our luggage!) the wonderfully friendly receptionist (I feel terrible, as I forget her name) and Carlos lent us some clothes and sent us in the right direction in town to rent some clothes. The receptionist... More

The host of this property was very welcoming and very nice. The room was also very nice and clean. The breakfast was the best breakfast I had during my stay in Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. The property is a 10-12 minute walk from the town's main street. You can walk it at any time of the day or night... More

Located on a quiet street away from town center. Plenty of parking and not too long of a walk from town. Hotel is run by the owners who are very friendly and helpful. There is very little traffic on the street so there does not appear to be a big advantage of some rooms being quieter than others. Having said... More

My friends and I stayed for 1 night when we returned to El Calafate after going to El Chalten. The first time we stayed closer to main street. It was nice to stay at Caquenes because it's a very different part of town. We went exploring near the bay and through the quiet neighborhoods. The breakfast was great. The room... More

This small B & B gave us amongst the best service by the front desk which we experienced on our Patagonian trip. We arrived very late (midnight) after the seven hour bus ride from Torres del Paine. We had no idea how we would get to the hosteria. It is located on a small street on the outskirts of town,... More

We spent two nights here on a recent Patagonia trip and, without hesitation. Here is why. Located on an as-of-yet unpaved road on the outskirts of town near Lake Argentina, Cauquenes de Nimez offers a charming B&B from top-to-bottom. The 4 people we encountered at the front desk ranged from courteous to friendly; all were helpful. The downstairs library features... More

We stayed at this place for two nights as part of a 2-week Patagonia trip and absolutely loved it there. Carlos - who apparently is nearly as handsome and tall as Juana's husband - and Juana are incredibly welcoming, funny and helpful. They organized trips for us, recommended restaurants and even helped us with accommodation in other places. As to... More

In our three weeks trip all over Argentina Cauquenes was probably our best hotel experience. First of all thanks to the devoted and nice staff. Carlos and Mauro were very helpful in organizing our trips, suggesting restaurants and things to do and finally helping in a crisis situation (broken car...). We received a nice room in a new annex on... More

Stayed 3 nights. Room was in the new annex and bright and airy with comfortable bed. You can hear people walking in rooms above you which was a bit annoying. Complimentary tea served 5pm till 7 pm was welcomed. Staff were very helpful - took 10 mins to walk into town which was not a problem.
