We received a welcome drink, some flowers and a room upgrade. Nice, large rooms. This hotel and its grounds used to be a ranch. However, it takes an hour on foot to and from town. Especially at night, the hotel might be hard to find. The atmosphere and service were very good.

We really did not know what to expect upon our arrival at Kau Yatun in El Calafate since the room was not our priority as we had no intentions of spending much time in our room due to all of the exciting activities we had planned. But upon check-in we were very impressed with how friendly the front desk staff... More

I and my wife spent two nights at this hotel with a group tour while visiting the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier. The hotel is a part of estancia with a rural look and rustic feel. Looking out from the lobby you could watch sheep, birds and trees on the property. The hotel is about 20-25 minutes walking distance from down... More

Calafatae is an isolated town in the middle of vast Patagonia. It's a tourist town near Los Glaciares National Park. KauYatun is a 15 minute walk from the busy and noisy downtown area which makes it quiet and attractive. The hotel is an former estancia. We were presented with a welcoming drink and a small bouquet of wild flowers on... More

Very large rooms - three twin beds in my room and two doubles in other rooms. Bathroom was nice sized and had good quality shampoo, conditioner and soap. To use the in room safe you make a deposit of 100 pesos for the key and get it back when you return the key. The property is about a 15 minute... More

Right, so I wasn't that impressed with the hotels where we were placed by the Travel agent earlier in the trip, but THIS place, Kau Yatun, was exactly what I needed after a whole lot of "tours" (where english wasn't the priority) and "dielo" (Ice) plus landscape that looks like the Karoo....don't get me wrong....astoundingly beautiful as the Karoo is,... I was part of a group that spent several days at the Kau Yatun in December. Except that I would have preferred a venue with a scenic view out the windows it is was a perfect stay. ( I don’t count the lack of a view against the hotel. They don’t suggest that they have one.) Check out the pictures... More

We spent two nights at the hotel, two families of 4 with two kids each. The hotel is very nice, accommodation is ok. The hotel is a little away from downtown so if you decide to walk be ready to go through quiet streets. The one weak point is the food at the hotel. Breakfast was simply not enough, not... More

If you're like us, your time in El Calafate is not going to be spent at your actual hotel. We spent four nights (one of which consisted of 6 hours total in our hotel) in El Calafate, three of them at Kau Yatun. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, although our windows did overlook the very loud fowl in... More

We stayed here with Travelsphere group at Christmas time, lovely rooms with two double beds, Coffee/Tea making facilities, Bath with Shower, ample hot water, opening Windows, free wifi, good Breakfast (pastries, cheese, Ham, Cereal and scrambled Egg). The Restaurant provides a good Steak, Salmon and Goulash etc., A nice walk to the town, with lovely gardens and Sheep Sheering demonstrations.... More
