We stayed at Alaska Hostel for just over a week. From the moment we arrived the owners and staff were very welcoming, providing us with useful information regarding activities in Bariloche and even advice on other areas of Argentina. During our stay, there was a bus strike throughout town which made getting around very difficult without a car. The owners... More

Basic but warm rooms with a shared bathroom for the private rooms but it has a really nice atmosphere with a big kitchen to use and a comfortable common area. It's a bit far from the town centre but its easy to take a bus. The owners are really helpful and nice.

We spend several nights in the 6-bed dorm during the beginning of low season (100Peso p.P. incl. breakfast and towels). When full, it might be a bit small. There are lockers and individual reading lights for everybody. The beds were comfortable and rooms and bathrooms very clean. Hot showers were excellent. The whole hostel was very well heated. As there... More

Stayed here with a tour group. was really clean. staff were super friendly, spoke english and were very honest and helpful about things to do around town. not sure if it would have much atmosphere, as our tour group were the only ones there. would probably be loads of fun during the winter season. good included breakfast. they did a... The hostel was seriosuly the best hostel we stayed in after 5 weeks travelling around Argentina. We met some great people in the very hospitable, welcoming open area, but were most impressed by the owners of the hostel. They gave great information about sites and activities and helped out wherever possible. The had great enthusiasm and made sure everyone was... More

Originally booked for only 2 nights and ended up staying for 5. We found the staff so helpful and knowledgeable and with so much to do we couldn't fit it all in in 2 days. The kitchen is the biggest and best we've found so far in Argentina, they even had a wok and a juicer! The homemade bread for... More

I stayed at Alaska Hostel for a week last year over the summer with friends during our trip through Patagonia. Out of all the hostels we stayed at during our 3 week trip, this place was BY FAR the best. We had initially only planned to stay 3 days, however it was such a great fit for us (we rented... More

Homely, great kitchen, super friendly staff. Comfortable, clean and bright. If you like to party in bars, you'll be disappointed by the location, which is ideal for exploring the mountains and still only a short bus ride from town. Just make sure you get your bus card when you arrive at the bus station, even if you get a cab... More

Out of the 9 or 10 hostels I have stayed in, in Argentina, this has the right balance of homelyness, quality of service and affordability. It's a perfect place; you don't need to be in the centre of Bariloche to experience the beautiful countryside around (infact this hostel is closer to what you want to see) and it's half the... More

What a fantastic spot! This is not a hostel, it´s far more of a home. It´s just far out enough from the city to feel removed and at peace. There is a supermarket that is well-stoked just down the road where you can get and top-up buscards (which Alaska can, at times, supply). Beautiful garden and a few super-friendly (non-flea)... More
