We stayed just one night at the hotel and love the place as it is very charming and quiet. The location is nice for relaxing and going to walk in the Quebrada. Our room was large and furniture with antique furniture. The breakfast was very good with fresh fruits.

We were hiking around and stopped for lunch there (didn't stay at the hotel). The owner and staff were really caring. The food was excellent, we were full at the end of the meal, and the price was average. We were then accompanied on a tour of the beautiful hotel. I definitely recommend this place as a restaurant. The hotel itself has a rich history, is unique, and in a beautiful location. The owners/operators were very gracious and accommodating. Breakfast included freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, baked goods, and coffee. Our breakfast was served in a private room overlooking the beautiful tropical canyon across the street. It is not a 5 star hotel, but was very comfortable... More

The castle is awesome, it is a great location, quiet, with interesting history and architecture. It is now managed by its owners who are doing a great job at renovating it. It has tremendous potential. Maria Eugenia was a great host to us, really friendly. We'd like to go again some other time.

Warning: as of August 2013, this hotel is under considerable renovations. It is not ready for guests. The hotel kitchen is in complete disrepair, unsanitary and not operational. The rear building structure has a massive hole in the wall so large that the interior of the hotel is visible from the backyard. I have notified Expedia. This hotel has potential.... More

If you look for an experience, rather than for a place to crash, do give it a go. The castle is surrounded by dense forrest on the edge of San Lorenzo. The place is a little bit run down, but they are making it up to you by an extrodinary service. We loved to stroll around the woods and enjoyed... More

What a jaw-dropping experience when first glimpsed! Beautiful! Elegant! Stylish! And upon entering the hotel, what a lovely reception from John, the American owner for 28 years. The few rooms are magnificent, if needing a little up-dating. Very high ceilings, balconies, antique furniture (perhaps not of the highest quality, but who cares), airy, and on a grand scale. A lovely... More

I was there in 2009 and it was fantastic, spotless, great food, great service so I returned just now, 10/11. I still had great service from the owner and a warm reception, but something dreadful happened to this place. I hope John, that you get it back on track and be proud of it again. Good luck and keep your... More

We had an enormous room, but the furniture was so dirty, you wouldn't lay your trousers on them, full with fungus and dirt. The furniture in the hall was so dirty you wouldn't dare to sit on it. Don't look in the kitchen please. We had dinner and breakfast and a foodpoisning. The swimming pool was with greenwater.

A castle built by an Italian immigrant turned by its current U.S. owner into a hotel. It's nice and quaint if a bit odd as one would expect from an eccentric original owner. Nice old-fashioned rooms with high ceilings. Can be a bit warm so ask for a fan. Full-length window doors open but no bug screens. On a dead... More
