What a lovely hotel in Tilcara and Pat was a delightful hostess, too! Located a SHORT 10-minute walk to the central square downhill... certainly not 30 minutes. Yes, dogs bark, but they do that all over Argentina... nice view from the public area which is so homey. The free parking is locked at night, but we had a key if... More

Having been locked out of El Refugio del Pintor just down the road at 11pm, I was overjoyed to find not only that Patio Alto was still open, but the warmest of welcomes from the charming Manager, Pat, who having made repeated efforts to phone my hotel in vain, thankfully was able to give me a large, spotlessly clean room... Hotel is located above the small town of Tilcara and is a bit tricky and annoying to get to. I was lured in to stay at hotel because it appeared to have view of town but this was not the case. The hotel faces the hills of the town, but you really cant see anything from the hotel courtyard and... More

I am so sorry to know you did not enjoy your stay at our hotel in Tilcara and did not find the scenery worth enough. However, I am very happy to know you highly enjoyed Purmamarca which is one of the beauties of our Quebrada de Humahuaca. Thank you for your comments and your time! Actually we lived here in December 2013 but forgot to write a review. We we're traveling with our 15 month son, one in the belly and my fiances aunt to Tilcara. The town is amazing and Patio Alto is a pearl here. It felt really homey and was really nicely designed. A lot of details without being to much and... More

This is a goregous hotel with incredible views. You are at the top of the hill (a very walkable hill, don't worry about putzing around town from here it is easy) and so the rooms have incredible views. The hotel manager speaks perfect english and gave us recommendations for two of the best meals we had on our trip. The... More

The hotel is warm, welcoming and comfortable. The rooms are large and well appointed. It is the little touches that make it so good - the ability to make a drink when you want, use the fridge, home made muesli and jams at breakfast, cake put out for afternoon tea, fresh fruit and water in the rooms. But above all... More

Patio Alto is perfect and top quality. When you go to a 5-star hotel, there is a price to pay besides the high price. There are all kinds of fuss and hype to deal with to a point where certain places make you uncomfortable to be such a simple traveller in their castle. You know what I mean. Patio Alto... More

We loved this place and stayed for 2 nights. Pat, the manager, speaks perfect English and this made all the difference in our stay. Her suggestions for the area were much appreciated. The rooms are clean and well furnished and it is a short walk to the central square. The tea and goodies offered every afternoon were wonderful and there... More

We loved our stay at Patio Alto because Pat the manager, Mara and the people who worked there made our stay extra special. They gave us excellent tips and suggestions in the area, and they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. It's the little things that people do that make your stay so memorable. This has to be one of the best places I've stayed in. It is a little trek from the bus station but it is definitely worth it.
