We loved this inn, nestled in the hills just above town. Our standard room was very clean and cozy, and had an outdoor seating area that looked out over the town and valley. At night we enjoyed having a fire in the room's wood stove. The food was great, and served fireside in the main lodge. Staying here was the... More

Tilcara is a beautiful town, and the Posada de Luz is a beautiful property. We stayed two nights in a two-room suite. The weather was cold, but our room was nice and cozy with the wood-burning stove. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was modern with plenty of hot water! I would agree with other guests and say that... More

Tilcara - what a great little town! We drove the "short route" through the mountains from Salta to Tilcara and after 3 hours we were delighted to arrive at Posada De Luz. We had a charming 2 room suite with a nice wood burning stove, patio, and lovely modern bathroom. The mattress was good, my partner is picky, so this... More

Sitting on the patio of my room with a beautiful view out across Tilcara was a great holiday experience in itself, I am delighted I chose to stay here rather than the larger towns and cities further south. The rooms were outstanding and the location ideal. The staff were extremely personable and helpful, small things like an early breakfast on... More

finally writing a review, please refer to my posted overall trip report on Argentina; This was a lovely small bed and breakfast or Posada, I think total of 6 rooms, we had the largest suite, I think, it has basically 2 rooms, a living room and then leads to a separate room; Very clean, I am rather picky on where... Very nice room with little sittingroom and windowdoors to a little private garden with a beutiful view on the mountains and the churchtower of Tilcara. Garden with heated swimming-pool and 2 lovely friendly dogs who want to play with the guests. Staff and owner are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good. From the moment we arrived we realised we were staying somewhere special. We were greeted warmly with a map of the village and instructions about walks in the area. The room was cosy and nicely furnished, the bathroom worked well and we greatly appreciated being able to sit on the deckchairs on our pebbly patio enjoying the spectacular views of... More

This is a great place to stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are traditional decoration, large spaces with sitting area, bed area and I had a small terrace ( I think they all do) with table and loungers. The pool is a greta relief after a day in the mountains, there's a hammock to relax in and a... More

We spent 2 nights here in Oct '13 and after the harrowing drive from Salta on the 'jungle road' it provided the perfect sense of peace & quiet. Our room was two levels with a sitting area on the upper level as you entered with couch, chair, and wood-burning stove. The lower level, 4 steps down, had the bed, two... More

It's a peaceful place, respectful to their clients. Last day of my departure I was a bit worried as I didn't succeed to make a reservation in Salta for the night and was about to spend a lot of time in a bus. The girl in the reception did a reservation for me, she even called that hostel. I can... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Posada de Luz is in Tilcara, in the heart of the Quebrada de Humahuaca, which was declared Natural and Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2003. It was categorized with three stars by the Tourism Department of the Province of Jujuy, and it has 6 double rooms, triple rooms and a quadruple one. Its owner, Luz Manfredi, knew the area in 1985, while on a trip to Cuzco, and since then she was in love with the landscape and the culture of the people. The project to build an inn in the “quebradeña way”, i.e. with stone foundations, adobe walls and mud cake and cane roofs grew through the years, and it took shape in January 2004 with the opening of the Posada de Luz with its 6 rooms whose main charm are the terraces from where you get a panoramic view of the hills around Tilcara. Since then we have received in the Posada people from all corners of Argentina and the world, many of whom are now great friends of ours. ... more   less
