I thought the Los Helechos was a great little hotel in Puerto Iguazu. The rooms were cosy and comfortable and it almost felt like a B&B. Staff were nice and friendly plus the breakfast wasn't too bad at all either. The falls were absolutely stunning, definetly one of the highlights of my trip to South America. Definetly stay on the... more

We arrived in Iguazu having had a local resident reply to our request for information about the hosteria as " its ok". Sadly for us it wasnt. We were greeted by a surley and unhelpful man on reception who showed us to our room which was dark with grotty bed clothes and curtains and a bathroom that was frankly grim.... more

I originally booked a double room at Los Heleches, but my partner was not able to make that part of the trip. The manager was very willing to change my room to one with two twin beds, at a reduced price. The room was comfortable, facing out to the interior courtyard, and had air conditioning and ceiling fan. The bathroom... more

Hotel was pretty good, not great. The room was a little drab, and the bed wasn't the best, but it was fairly clean and secure, and the TV worked and got a good range of channels. The breakfast was lackluster, and the service was okay. It is only a short walk away from the main bus station and the better... more

This was the only time we've relied on a travel agent at an airport to book us in somewhere .... and the rating of 2 (nearly a 1) suggests that's not a great idea! The positives are location - a couple of blocks from some good restaurants and the bus station (which is useful in Iguazu) and it does have... more

There are 2 types of rooms in Los Helechos.... First day, I was given a terrible depressing room, and asked for another one; they gave me a much nicer one (a little more expensive, a few dollars more, but it is worth it). I'm going back there with my husband next year and will definitely stay again at Los Helechos. more

We booked a room at Los Helechos because of the positive reviews at Tripadvisor. At that time tofu_dog's review wasn't there yet, but that review is so accurate. We stayed there only for one night and we were glad to leave. The place is run down. The lights in the room didn't work and the toilet was constantly leaking water.... more

My wife and I had at best a fair experience at Hosteria Los Helechos. This hotel is in the budget category, which we're very familiar with, but in comparison with other hotels and inns in this category, I'd say it is more toward the bottom. For the price, we weren't expecting a five-star experience, but there are just certain elements... more

I stayed here for 3 nights in November and was very satisfied. I stayed in one of the older rooms with a fan. The cost was about 100 pesos per night for a single with breakfast. However, this part of Argentina can be ferociously hot in the summer (Dec. through March) . During that time period, you probably want a... more

Outstanding value. Extremely clean and tidy. Nice tropical plants in an interior greenhouse. Pool. We paid about US$10/night for a private double room with private bath (no TV) and a cieling fan. With AC would have been about US$20 I think. It was "winter" so AC was not required, although daytime temperatures were around 75-80 degrees F (in June). A... more
