PLEASE NOTE THIS IS RE: HOSTEL EL GUEMBE, EL URU NO 120 AS THERE ARE 2 EL GUEMBE HOSTELS IN THE TOWN.I handed small plastic bag that contained my passport together with my debit card and money (200 reals) to a member of staff to be put in the locker. I was never told that I had to give them... more

The rooms did not look very good after a quick glance. Dark and cigarette smoke. But we ended up extending our stay here. Very helpful staff and the beds were nice, slept really good with the sound of the tropical garden outside. more

TERRIBLE!!it was very dirty. the rooms were full of insects, the bathroom didn´t have even shower. It was a nightmare!!! what you see in the website is not real at all. more

El Guembe is a run-down little place in a quiet part of town within 5-10 minutes walk of the bus station and 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of town. The rooms are basic with foam matresses and but they are not particularly clean with lots of marks on the walls including what looks like damp, the occasional footprint and... more
