We spent two expensive (AR260) nights in this place. Our room (a private double plus single) was cramped and dark but reasonably clean. The window opens onto a common area between the kitchen and front yard so we had to keep the shutters closed for privacy. The shared bathroom was disgusting. Clumps of hair in the shower, mouldy shower curtain,... More

The hostal is 5 min from the busterminal, thats nice we had a double room which was small, but ok, El guembe is amongst cheaper hostals in Iguazu (where all places are more expensive than at less touristy places, naturally...) its kind of like - everything at the hostal is a bit broken, still working but a bit broken (doorhandle,... We made a reservation through hostebookers for the El Guembe Hostel House, after 24 hour bus journey we arrived at the hostel and were advised that there was no room or dorm available and the only one they had was in the their other one: El Guembe hostel. When we saw the place we demanded our money back straight away,... More

There are 2 hostels in Iguazu with the same name, both apparently owned by the same person. This review like most of the other ones applies to the one in Av. Guarani and it is 2 blocks from the bus station. Lots of things in the hostel are broken, toilet seats, ceiling fans and the paying guests fridge being the... More

The hostel is located literally 2 blocks from the main bus station. It is equipped with a small swimming pool, garden and space for bbq. The furniture in the room appeared to be slightly battered and the door has a large gap, but the room was clean and tidy. Breakfast modest, but hostel stuff is very nice. Overall impression, modest... More

We booked a dorm and a private room and when we arrived we were told no private rooms existed. The hostel was also filthy. Avoid at all costs.

We had a double room en suite. It was not very clean and not very big, but for this price it was ok. Breaktfast is just one bread with marmelade and coffee. Staff was nice but with poor english. We left our key at the reception - after one day out: room service wasn't made but 150 Reais which we... More

Although Puerto Iguazu does not have great accommodation in general, El Guembe manages to disappoint. The rooms are dark and mouldy. There were dozens of mosquitoes there because they leave the doors open all day when not in use. The beds are thin foam mattresses, covered in thin/old cotton sheets that did not seem to have been washed. The pillows... More

Before coming, I had made a reservation by email but I had not written the adress of the hostel because I didn't though they were two hostel in Puerto Iguazu with the same name (they certainly didn't think that was relevant to indicate it to me!). Then I came to one (the wrong one!) and after understanding that they didn't... More

chose El Guembe cos my first 2 choices were fully booked so I was crossing my fingers when I alighted from the bus terminal. El Guembe is indeed a fair distance from the bus terminal, took me about 15mins to drag my bags through the pebblestones. Finally found the tucked away hostel. Daniel (guess he's the boss) greeted me immediately... More
