I was travelling with my mum and we stayed in their apartment opposite plaza de la independencia. Perfect location, very secure and the place had everything we needed. The staff were very accommodating when we were delayed arriving and always very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!!!

Great building with nice outside space and working BBQ and lots of communal space. Located within walking distance of all sites and bars. Staff were very helpful and friendly (I think the bad reviews of unhelpful staff relate to just one individual who was a bit grumpy). Rooms are clean and comfortable- try and get an upstairs room, they're bigger... More

Not sure why this was rated so highly in the Lonely Planet 'South America on a shoestring'- the staff were so unhelpful and were only willing to offer help/guidance if it involved a tour that they were earning commission on. Worst hostel we have stayed at on our trip so far and we left feeling annoyed and disappointed, largely due... More

The hostel itself was fine - although the rooms, without air conditioning were far too hot to sleep in. Breakfasts adequate. However the staff were rude and unhelpful. They were extremely reluctant to offer any advice or give any help for activities which didn't involve them getting commission. In fact I found them judgemental for doing things which didn't involve... More

I phoned to book a room a week or so before arrival. The woman on the phone told me she had rooms available but asked me to send her an email. I did so straight away and she responded with more details on the room, price etc. I got back to her saying that it suited us and we would... More

As you well said, WE REQUEST A DEPOSIT to hold any room or bed, and you never made one. How can you know if the hostel is disorganized and that the staff is unhelpful if you HAVEN'T STAYED WITH US? That's the problem with people like you... as you are mad, you give wrong information totally different to the people... More

We stayed in the shared dorm and also a private double room and both were great experiences. The private double in particular was almost like staying in our own little villa, all for hostel prices - great value for money! The hostel itself has a pretty courtyard and gardens, as well as a small pool which provided a nice means... More

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at Alamo on one of the private garden rooms, and enjoyed our stay. Long and the short of it, it's a clean and friendly hostel that attracts a diverse range of travellers, young and old. They are also affiliated with all the local tours and activity companies, and can easily hook you up... More

My boyfriend and I stayed for one night on our way to Buenos Aires from Santiago. We found the staff were particularly helpful; booking our bike tour, storing our luggage after check out and making a reservation for dinner at a nearby restaurant. We stayed in a private double room with a separate bathroom. All facilities were clean and functional,... More

Great hostel with a big common area, a lovely garden and a small pool. The staff is nice and really helpful, which we really appreciated! We spent almost one week there in a dorm and enjoyed our stay a lot.

On arrival early in the morning rather unfriendly staff. House rules not adhered to, especially regarding the night rest time. Also the room was only provided at 1pm although the check in is supposed at 12am. The cleaning service starts at 4am, further disturbing the sleep. Uncomfortable entry & exit as one needs to ring the bell for both directions.... More
