The room itself was fine, away from street (quiet) and pretty clean. The location was perfect. The bathrooms were a bit annoying as toilet paper wasn't provided, and the showers made it so the seats were always wet. The kitchen was disgusting and greasy and didn't have many utensils so I wouldn't recommend cooking! This place is fine if you... More

This place is for very flexible and adventurous people only and people that won't mind sloppy service, dilapidated facilities, greasy kitchen and lingual barrier. Our madness began with arriving after 22 pm when there was no one to check us in. The door was locked and there were two other couple that booked, arrived to the shut gate and just... More

This hotel is a place for budget travelers who will spend a long time in Buenos Aires. Its cheap and its close to the San Telmo Plaza. Free internet, 180 pesos for a single person in a dubbelbed. Summary words: Cheap, kind but lazy staff, noicy, and awful security. The hotel is very cheap and there are common bathrooms were the... More

This place is really good if you're on a budget. The room was basic but clean and the showers are hot. The only problem was in December, during summer, it was incredibly hot so quite uncomfortable without air con. Would definitely stay here again in a different season.

Pro's Cost - for BA this is the best value place you'll find if you just want a bed and can see past the basic room. It's clean and offers what you need. Great location! Antique market on the weekend is an awesome place to get lost in. Atmospheric traditional old building, staff very sweet and smiling, plenty eating/drinking options... More

The reviews for this hotel/hostel are average so on booking this hostel I remained open minded but booked it because of how cheap it was and wanting to watch our pennies. On arrival all was good and our room was very pleasant with ensuite facilities (something we hadn't paid for) we also had a fan which was very much needed.... More

I have never seem so much incompetence, bad service and disgusting rooms as in Carly. Firstly, we arrive at around 11 pm and we had to wake up all the guest, wake up the owners thrice to finally get a room. In this process we only managed to get into our "room" after 2 and a half hours after arriving... More

Hotel Carly is not a luxe, not trendy fashion or very clean. But... perfect location in San Telmo and really cheap. So... I will suggest to go if you need only a basic bed and you pass the rest of the day outside. If you are e little difficlt with higiene and comfort... it si snot your place!

Yes, this is the cheapest hostel I could find in Bs. Ar. with a single room. However...the showers are as stated above pretty awful, only cold water and sometimes only hot water. The room I had was decent, nice balcony, great view of Plaza Dorrego, but above 2 bars so between them and the plaza bring earplugs if you plan... More

This dark, dirty and creepy so-called hotel is one of the worst places I have stayed at. It was in such a bad shape that it seemed like everything they ever did in the last 20 years was to change the bed linen. The shared bathroom was terrible, no place to hang your towel, you were showering while standing over... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
