Pros: Good location, friendly staff, comfortable and clean bathrooms. Cons: No air conditioning in our room. No windows except of the terrace door. People are walking around on that terrace, and it can get noisy. You are not supposed to open the door, but we did it anyway, because we felt suffocating in +30 heat with no air conditioning or... Couple late 20s travelling for a number of months. Good price, rooms spotless and location is really good in the san telmo area. Nice bars and restaurants close by. Hostel perfect for couples. Def recommended if on a budget.

This hostel was awful. Ants all over the bathroom, dirty rooms and ants in our bed when we woke up. I would not recommend at all. This hostel was awful. Ants all over the bathroom, dirty rooms and ants in our bed when we woke up. I would not recommend at all.

Stayed here two nights and only payed 500 Arg pesos for a double room with shared bathroom (expensive in general, well-priced for buenos aires!). Bathrooms are very very nice, almost hotel-like, breakfast isn't that great but loads of other options (cafés) around the corner. Great location and good-working wifi. Would definitely come here again!

Really enjoy our 5 night stay here to explore BA. We had room number 5 overlooking the roof terrace. The rooms were basic and clean. The shared shower facilities were cleaned every morning too and had 24hour hot water. Felt warm when it got a little cool during the BA night. The receptionists were very helpful, giving us advice on... More

We found this place by way of recommendation from another traveler and had he not given me the address we would have never found it as there is no sign and nothing about the front of the building would suggest that it is a hostel. The website gives the old building address. Not sure if that building is still in... More

We spent one night there in May 2013 in the new building (opposite the old one - no sign outside), and the hostal is very nice and cozy. We had a very clean double room with shared bathroom also very clean, with nice hot shower. Location is very good, in the heart of San Telmo, close to bars, cafés, restaurants,... More

Located at San Telmo, a bohemian bar in Buenos Aires, it's a very cozy, clean and well located hostel - near plaza de mayo, paseo colon, plaza san lorenzo, among others. They have a fair price and the staff is very helpful in tips around there and about the city. The problem is with the common area: it isn't in... More

It's not really difficult to please me and I'm definitely not high maintenance at all, but this place is by far the worst I've run into. I was supposed to stay for 5 nights in January 2012 but I left after the second one and let me tell you why. First of all, the receptionist, who was a Colombian girl,... More

We had a private room with bathroom, fan only, and it was ridiculously hot. We were across the street from the main hostel, the main problem being that the room was on the ground floor with no windows. The private rooms with shared bathrooms on the levels above would have been much better. The staff were pretty surly, the breakfast... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
