Authentic hotel from Buenos Aires. Amazing building decorated with paintings of tango everywhere. Nice wooden reception and stairs. Wonderful entrance hall. Great breakfast room which was an ancient dancing room. Very distant staff, correct but indifferent. Old-fashioned room a little tiny and not very comfortable. Bedding ok. Tiny bathroom with sink, bidet and bath. The cheapest room has only one... More

Cucumber14, thank you very much for you review about us, the hotel is a 100 years old building and we are always working on it. The standars rooms don´t have window to the outside, that is why are so calm. As the staff at the front, it is unusual that, we always get good comment about them. Hope you enjoy... More

Loved it. If you want the experience of staying in a fashionable mansion of a once wealthy Buenos Aires family, this is the place to choose. Pictures on-line do not do this place justice at all. Price is very reasonable.

The staff is nice and hotel is beautiful. It is full of historic character. Reserve a room with a window instead of an internal room. The breakfast is not good, but that is not uncommon in Argentina. It is a very good value. We are from Greenwich village NYC and so we felt at home in San Telmo. Recoletto seemed... More

The service was outstanding. The feel is amazing of old Argentina. It looks so classy and gets you into the mood. All the people working there are kind and accommodating. The only complaint is the mattress. Just terrible. But you are so tired from dancing you might not notice.

if you want a rich Argentine experience, Hotel Mansion Dandi Royal is perfect for you. The neighborhood (San Telmo) is historic, authentic and so interesting. The hotel is very old and beautiful. There are many charming details here, but the real reason to stay is the staff. Christian at the front desk is absolutely amazing. He is so friendly and... More

It's the best place in town to stay and learn tango at the same town. This petit hotel used to house a prominent family in Buenos Aires, long before it became a hotel. The premises are incredible! We had a great couple of nights at this hotel. The decor is fantastic and it consists of two houses that have been joined together. Going up to the roof one finds a small swimming pool but more interestingly gets an impression of what lies on the inside of those enormous blocks of streets. The reception staff was extremely friendly... More

We stayed in Hotel Dandi for 4 nights. Architecturally , this is one of the most fascinating places to stay in Buenos Aires. Hotel is a converted mansion with historical décor, colorful art, winding staircases and elevator for those who want to use it. The hotel is attached to the Tango dance studio where you can attend nightly classes or... More

Windowless room. Stained bed linens and towels. Needed to ask for toilet paper. Internet service intermittent at best. Carpet needed vacuuming. Staff was friendly but unreliable--two times cars were promised for pick up at airport but then never showed up. Narrow winding stairs up to all floors--no elevator. Front desk night and early morning staff spoke no English. Breakfast coffee... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
