We recently stayed at this hostel Upon our return to BA (having stayed across the road at America Del Sur beforehand) and what a regretful decision this was! We had booked accomodation for three nights when we arrived and checked in the "cleaner" handed us our towels whilst holding a cigarette in her hand, I'm sorry but isn't the purpose... More

Made it to this hostel after a friend had already stayed here one night. Was lucky enough to have place, since all other hostels were booked. The place is very well maintained, rooms and bathrooms are being cleaned on a daily basis. There's a kitchen with the basic things you need for cooking, but bring spices. Showers were always warm,... This is a nice place and we had booked a double room with private bathroom and found the place quite good for a hostel room. It has an old mansion feeling as the rooms are spread out over a long open air passage with the shared toilets in the middle. They served a breakfast of cereals with milk, bread, butter,... More

It was not so much the cockroach but the reaction when i told the management or at least I asked for some spray to kill the oversized sucker! They did not have any spray, but did offer to clean the room the following day, while admitting "there are many (cockroaches)".... After that conversation the staff were very rude and unfriendly,... Excellent location, in the middle of San Telmo, a welcoming part of BA to explore when visiting this magnificent city for the first time. Nice hangout area at the reception where a plentiful breakfast is served. Friendly staff, clean rooms and clean showers.

It's a very nice hostel located in a good area of Buenos Aires. Felt confortable to get around the cit from there. The hostel itself is good, has everything one needs, quiet, sometimes a little noisy but nothing serious. Recommend it if you want to stay in San Telmo.

This was our last night in Buenos Aires. Our first nights were also in BA, also had a hostel in San Telmo, so we knew the area. Our first hostel was full, so we were a bit dissapointed but found this one and thought it will be okay too. It wsa more than okay, it was really nice! The staff... More

Hostel Tango is a good affordable hostel in a great location with lovely staff. The building is beautiful with the rooms leading off a courtyard and passage to the kitchen. It is clean and simple with a large kitchen. I would definitely come back again.

We stayed here for 8 days in room 6 which is next to reception and a little courtyard. You can see from my photos how close we were. There are actually two rooms in reception to avoid. Our room was one with en-suite and It was a little cramped in the bathroom. Some of the other rooms with en-suite looked... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
