This hotel is well located near the commercial and shopping areas. There are many tourists around. The hotel provided a good breakfast. We had a standard room. There was no air con but the window opened to a reasonably quiet street. The bathroom was tiny and the shower just dribbled. The room was clean and tidy though. The staff were... More

Three things I ask of in accommodation and I don't think it's asking too much: location, cleanliness and SLEEP QUALITY. The Rochester is close to everything - shops, action, restaurants, busy laneways, the buzz. We were able to walk safely at night (or were we just lucky??) and loved the atmosphere of this busy part of BA. Staff were helpful,... More

Compared to other hotels I have been to in this region, this has a considerably better breakfast (media lunas and such, 3 or 4 types of natural juices, fruit salad, bread and other things). Location is great, 30 steps from the Lavalle subway, near a shopping center and various bus stops. I also had no problem walking there at night,... More

I recently stayed at the Rochester Classic in Calle Esmeralda in Buenos Aires. Previously I'd used the Rochester Concept in Calle Maipu and on several occasions I'd found both room and service acceptable. I was expecting that the upmarket four star Classic would offer slightly more comfort and booked my stay on the net. I was horrified at the run... More

The design of the entire place was modern. My room was a decent size but the noise from other people in the hall could be heard. Thankfully I didn't need to sleep in. I had a small enclosed terrace and although I was at the back of the 2nd floor it provided some privacy. The heating/air conditioning unit was great... More

Got a good deal, room was OK once, but another time the room was so-so. The same happened for beds. I guess it depends on your luck... However staff is friendly and breakfast is great. Centrally Located<;

We got a great rate for this hotel, primarily because the road in front of is closed for construction. We had to walk a half of a block from a cross street. Rooms were small but clean. Staff was efficient and courteous. Breakfast buffet was great. Hotel is just two blocks from Florida Street, the main pedestrian walk in Centre... More

The laundry service in this place is a complete rip off! They charged us $270 Australian dollars for like 20 items of clothing (mostly underrwear)! They did not have any prices written on the laundry form and being naive we assumed it would be reasonable...but to check out and have to pay a bill of nearly $300 is beyond shocking... More

Considering the poor value of the Argentine dollar, this place feels like a steal at $75/night ( USD). Wi-Fi is not included, so prepare to pay extra unless using free lobby wi-fi. The rooms are clean, but very small, as is the bathroom. AC units are old and very noisy, and it is not uncommon to hear a neighbor easily... More

The hotel is pretty good, with nice staff, very helpfull. The rooms are quite, with good size and have a really good price-quality relation. The hotel is at "minicentro", at the center of the city, that is close to everything, but at night is pretty dangerous and dirty.

Staying in San Nicolas

Neighborhood Profile
San Nicolas
Immersed in the sound of honking horns and the footsteps of busy office workers, the Microcentro area of San Nicolás is where visitors will encounter the true hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, walking down streets lined with office buildings and banks. The financial district is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and unstoppable rhythm during office hours. After dark, the hubbub migrates to Corrientes Ave., where theater lovers might start their evening at a play and end it in one of the many traditional pizzerias nearby. During the day, Corrientes is known for its many bookshops and classic cafés, which are located just minutes away from some famous landmarks, like the Obelisco, Avenida 9 de Julio, and the Teatro Colon.
