We were heading north from Ushuaia and needed to spend the night in Buenos Aires after a visit to the university. The Corrientes/Callao area had been recommended but we had not had time to make a reservation. We struck out from the Universidad de Buenos Aires by taxi (USD20) on an hour's run into the city center through heavy 7... More

I came to Buenos Aires from Montevideo, on a 4 day tour. I was hoping to see as much as possible of this fabulous city in such a short time. On my first day, the bus tour forgot about my reservation and I was left at the hotel without any plans. I decided to tackle the city by foot. This... More

I was put up in this hotel by my hosts during a business trip. For the most part, the hotel is fine; the rooms are small but clean and comfortable, the shower works well, etc. It is on a very noisy street, so if your room faces the street, you may want to keep the window closed. But my room... More

The hotel is very central with a metro station very conveniently situated outside. English is a problem, but the staff were always helpful and tried to help. They also made good recommendations regarding tango shows, day trips etc. The room was small but clean. The shower was also small, but with good power. Breakfast very basic, but sufficient (given the... More

After having read reviews on Tripadvisor, I was slightly wary of booking this hotel. However, I found it to provide a pleasant stay. On entering the hotel, there is a slight musty smell in the foyer and the corridors. However, this did not extend to the rooms. Our room overlooked Avenida Corrientes. Again, I was dreading this as I had... More

I had come several times to Buenos Aires but I've never stayed in that neighborhood. Atlas Tower Hotel was chosen solely based on its location, Avenida Corrientes near Callao. This time I didn't want to stay at downtown, nor around the Obelisco, nor Puerto Madero, nor desert places by night. As I was coming alone the proximity with bookstores, places... More

Stayed here for 2 nights. It was $74 US (including all taxes, which are about 20% + room rate in Argentina). Very excellent location, about 6 blocks from the Obelisk. Subway stop is literally outside the hotel. Walking distance to many of the sights in Buenos Aires and parks. Lots of places to eat within 1 block radius of the... More

Staying in San Nicolas

Neighborhood Profile
San Nicolas
Immersed in the sound of honking horns and the footsteps of busy office workers, the Microcentro area of San Nicolás is where visitors will encounter the true hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, walking down streets lined with office buildings and banks. The financial district is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and unstoppable rhythm during office hours. After dark, the hubbub and migrates to Corrientes Ave., where theater lovers might start their evening at a play and end it in one of the many traditional pizzerias nearby. During the day, Corrientes is known for its many bookshops and classic cafés, which are located just minutes away from some famous landmarks, like the Obelisco, Avenida 9 de Julio, and the Teatro Colon.
