For a 3 Star Hotel, this place delivers. I found myself getting robbed and subsequently moneyless and without a passport on my way to the airport, rendering me having to stay in Buenos Aires some additional nights until I was able to get an emergency passport and rebooked a flight. Luckily, I remembered my credit card number and booked River... More

The hotel is located in a reasonably low priced area, though it is not far in a taxi to more plush areas. This place would be suitable for young travellers & would be more reasonably priced than others

We were forced to stay here by Aerolineas Argentinas when they canceled our flight. This is a fair two star hotel, but not to my standard of a three star. The service was good, though, which helped immensely. I'm not sure what the charge for this hotel was, but more than perhaps $70 per night would be too much.

Good location for getting to know the city. Don't count on getting consistent wifi. If you do connect, count on getting slow speeds. The breakfast in the morning has a limited selection of items, no eggs either.

One would think that paying almost $100.00 (US) per night would render a hotel whose carpets are clean; however, the River Hotel in Buenos Aires had such ugly, soiled carpets in my room that I actually lost my appetite for dinner. I told the ftont desk that quite a few other things were wrong with this hotel. First, there was... More

We choose this hotel based on the perceptions of the people here and the cost (Aproximatelly US$50). Looking in the map the hotel was pretty closed to the Congress Square at walking distance of 9th July Av and other important sites. When we reached the hotel we had the 1st disappointment: even being in a good 'global location' the main... More

Based on the preceding review (May 2005), my partner and I stayed at the River Hotel for about two weeks from the end of October to the beginning of November 2005 and enjoyed our visit. We found it a small, personal hotel with friendly, cooperative staff, and patronized by professional and middle-class South Americans with a sprinkling of other foreigners.... More

My wife and I stayed at the River Hotel from October 26-31. The hotel is two to three years old and is in excellent condition. It is in a middle class area known as Congreso. We paid $41/night and had a fair sized room which was immaculately clean. The bathroom was spotless and included shower, wash basin and bidet. The... More

Check out the RIVER HOTEL located on 86 Montevideo. We stayed there from 7-9 May 2005 for US$42 per night for a standard room with a double bed. They have suites (a little larger, having a small sitting area) for about US$55. The rate of US$42 for the River Hotel was actually negotiated in pesos, in person at the front... More

Staying in San Nicolas

Neighborhood Profile
San Nicolas
Immersed in the sound of honking horns and the footsteps of busy office workers, the Microcentro area of San Nicolás is where visitors will encounter the true hustle and bustle of Buenos Aires, walking down streets lined with office buildings and banks. The financial district is well-known for its vibrant atmosphere and unstoppable rhythm during office hours. After dark, the hubbub migrates to Corrientes Ave., where theater lovers might start their evening at a play and end it in one of the many traditional pizzerias nearby. During the day, Corrientes is known for its many bookshops and classic cafés, which are located just minutes away from some famous landmarks, like the Obelisco, Avenida 9 de Julio, and the Teatro Colon.
