We had reserved at another hotel for 2 nights at New Year 2015-16, but upon arriving , we discovered to our horror that it was closed due to a major electrical problem. Luckily, the owner had been nice enough to move the reservations to another 'similar', hotel. So this is how we ended in the Gran Hotel which in all... More

Stayed for 5 nights November 2015. Rooms are modern and well equipped but not very spacious - not enough cupboard space. Breakfast was good. No problems with staff but room service was terrible - I waited almost an hour on two occasions for a simple sandwich! I will not rebook this hotel when next in Buenos Aires.

The price is right for what you get. Is a clean average hotel close to Retiro, is close from the famous Obelisk and some touristic places, however I only recommend this hotel for business trip. Is not a family friendly neighbourhood and if you going on a romantic get away, you can hear everything that is going on in every... More

We stayed for 3 nights in April as part of a Chimu Adventures tour. It was a good choice for what we wanted [only a place to sleep].The hotel is in a great location for the attractions of the city with easy walking to many places and good access to the subway trains. It is close to Florida street and... More

The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and helpful. Good base for local attractions. did lots of walking and used trains to the north, 3 times. Breakfast was standard and the same as elsewhere in BA,

When we booked on line and paid only $50 we were thinking this would be a substandard hotel with no service and shabby conditions but quite the opposite. We were given a clean 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite with great service and a location very near to The Port. If you are getting on or off a ship and need... More

I stayed here not because I wanted to, but because my apartment in Buenos Aires lost electricity on a very hot night and I needed somewhere close by with air conditioning and wi-fi. I found a good rate (under $50 US) for the same night check in and, based on prior reviews, felt it was a good choice. I arrived... More

We found that this hotel was just fine. Not amazing, but nothing wrong with it either. In fact, the scariest part were the elevators! The room was clean and a queen bed as we'd booked. Our room was close to the elevator so we heard some elevator noise in the night, but nothing we couldn't handle. I appreciated that the... More

The pros and cons of GHBA from a businessman point of view: Pros: The location is great. The personnel is friendly. Service is good. Cons: Breakfast: even when there is an early version available, if you want to enjoy the full one you will have to wait until 7 a.m. Internet: too slow and sometimes with services interruptions. Working space:... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
