We had occasion to stay at this hotel for three nights during our recent visit to Buenos Aires. Our rooms were clean, were well-maintained, had functioning WIFI, and the location of the hotel in a safe neighborhood but close to many of the local attractions was most desirable. A good breakfast was served by friendly staff, although a bit heavy... More

We stayed here with our OAT tour, for 3 nights on tour, then 3 nights on our own dime to extend our time in BA. The Argenta is your basic business person's hotel in town -- comfortable, but not luxurious. Clean rooms with small cooking area, WiFi. Hotel staff is very helpful with advice about how to get around town.... More

Highly recommend. Large, clean and quiet rooms. The most comfortable bed and pillows we've ever had in a hotel. Centrally located and easy to walk many places. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. My husband left his backpack on the transport and they did everything possible to get it back safely.

The hotel is a very nice, clean and fresh building. Rooms are really beautiful. Wood furniture. Providing even a kitchenette area. Upgraded bathroom and very comfortable mattress. Another thing.... WiFi available in the whole place. Breakfast is included, and let me tell you... I was really surprised it was not a toasts & bagels breakfast. It was a full breakfast,... More

We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour. The hotel was close to the main thoroughfare in Buenos Aires, but not where we heard that traffic. We walked through an area with various ambassador residences to the cemetery where Eva Peron is buried. It was also about 10 blocks from the BA Opera House. There were plenty of... More

This is a nice centrally located hotel with many amenities around the hotel grounds in surrounding blocks - clothes wash, supermarket, restaurants, etc. On our first of two visits, the front desk was great. The doormen were super and always smiled. Staff was superb in everything. On our second visit, not so good. Doormen did not open doors, were grouchy,... More

After looking at pictures and some reviews of this hotel, I was slightly apprehensive. I wanted to change our hotel but was not able to since it was part of a tour package. My entire view of this site changed upon our arrival. We were checked-in without any difficulty despite checking in 6 hours early. After traveling for almost 24... More

Stayed there twice at the beginning and end of a tour of Argentine and Chile and had similar rooms both times - although large and reasonably clean, they were very tired and desperately in need of redecorating. (The flooring was plastic wood, the bath tub was cracked, and the paint was peeling.) And the breakfast buffet was the worst we... More

Excellent moderately priced hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfasts included are not the most elaborate, but more than adequate. However, the best feature is the location in the Retiro district.

2 nights at this hotel. The rooms are comfortable and the elevators slow, so used the stairs most of the time. Brkfst buffet was good. Electrical system in the rooms were confusing, the main switch near the door had to be in the on position before any of the ceiling lights would operate, the problem was that it was not... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
