My wife and I stayed at the Emperador for two nights on a bed and breakfast basis, before boarding a cruise ship at the nearby Puerto Madero Harbor. The cruise line arranged our reservation and because of numbers involved, some of their passengers stayed at other hotels. The Emperador claims to be a five star establishment and is in an... More

The Emperador Hotel is located on the eastern part of Buenos Aires. The hotel is central, elegant with a beautiful lobby and garden area with water features. The rooms were beautiful, clean, with TV, WiFi and hair-dryers. The breakfast buffet offered eggs, cold-meats (jamón crudo), cheeses, pastries, juices, coffee (meh) and much more. The staff was excellent. The hotel is... More

We were entirely happy with the standard of the hotel and our room, but what set it apart for us were the staff, especially in reception. We were waiting for a pre arranged private tour guide who didn't appear and the staff asked if they could help us. They made phone calls and advised us in making alternative arrangements which... Great location close to many attractions and in a safe and beautiful area. Great service, the almost personalized service makes you feel in a boutique hotel but with a big hotel amenities. Beautiful breakfast area to start a day the best possible way! Fresh and very big rooms!! Great value for the money.

I was supposed to stay there for three nights. I only stayed 2 nights and moved to the Alvear Palace. Only the size of the rooms was ok. The location is not too bad either. Ten minutes walking from Florida Street. Otherwise, I really don't recommend it. Service is slow and erratic, especially at breakfast. Used plates would not be... More

I was put in this hotel due to our flight being delayed. It is a very nice hotel aiming to be five star.my room was nicely furnished with a lovely bathroom, with a separate shower. Surprising for this standard there are only net curtains across the windows, so the room is not dark at night. There is a 100 peso... More

Enjoyed stay at the Emperador. Once you accept everyone in BA thinks they are European and above you, all is fine. It is about a mile to walk to central BA, and a pleasant safe walk. Breakfast is good, rooms are nice, and there is a nice garden for afternoon tea. All in all, a good choice in BA.

It is a fine etablishment, but lacks proper outdoor space to enjoy the fine Argentine weather after a day exploring the city. 20' walk to the waterfront. Rooms and service are great. breakfas offers all one can ask for. Basic, but fine.

We spent three nights at this hotel. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. At times, the desk personnel seemed distant or harried. The room was spacious and clean. When asked for extra wash clothes, I had to sign for them. Facial tissue was only issued once and toilet paper replacement required a call to the desk, House Keeping never... More

We found this hotel to be very central. Staff were friendly, rooms very comfortable and food excellent. However, we found the charge for wifi and eggs for breakfast very annoying and unnecessary, especially when wifi is free in the surrounding restaurants.

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
