I've stayed in this hotel several times of the past 4 years. Always been treated very well. The location is nearby the city downtown with a lot of excellent restaurants around the hotel. It is also closer to the shopping mall. The rooms have plenty of space and always clean. There is a very good breakfast with good croissants and... More

Convenient location, good size rooms but very poor service in rooms and restaurant. It took more than half an hour to get sandwiches and coffee in the room and then the order was only half fulfilled. Breakfast in the downstairs "restaurant" was a joke. Only orange juice until complaint when eventually Apple juice arrived 45 minutes later. Fried eggs had... More

This hotel has a lot to offer if you you are visiting Buenos Aires as a tourist: good location, nice rooms, great breakfast. LOCATION: The hotel is located in the micro-center of BA and just two short blocks from "Florida" rue/street, which is a long pedestrian only street with many shops. It is also a pleasant mile walk to Recolata... More

We stayed for four nights at the Melia. As the hotel attracts both business & tourists everything is functional be it the rooms ,services etc. The big plus side is the very good breakfast with which to start your day - a wide selection of hot and cold plus lots of fresh fruit etc ( the best breakfast on our... We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Melia. The location on Reconquista was ideal. Walking distance to downtown, Santelmo, and Recoleta. The staff was very helpful at the front desk, and my wife and I enjoyed walking pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. Honestly we didn't even spend much time in the room. There are several good... We stayed in this Hotel at the start of our three week trip to Argentina. A very comfortable Hotel with gym and swimming pool. Our room was big and very comfortable with good lighting and a comfortable bed, also somewhere to sit as well. Melia was the first hotel we stayed in Argentina and glad to say, we were not disappointed! The service at the restaurant took time but the food was delicious. Staff were also very friendly. I have to mention, the bartender at the lobby bar was the friendliest and happiest staff member of the hotel. He was so kind and attentive,... More

This hotel was included by our tour group as the point or arrival and departure in connection with a 3-week tour we undertook in Argentina and Chile. We were delighted to see it included in our itinerary, as we have had excellent experiences in hotels operated by this group in Spain, all of them authentic 5-star caliber. That is a... More

I stayed there for two nights recently, and enjoyed the place. The hotel is not very new… but my room was big and in above average condition. The free wifi was good. The in-house breakfast runs from 7-11am and had both hot and cold items. The front desk staff were very friendly and tried to help. The location of this... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
