Beware! There are a couple of other Melias' in BA, so make sure you book and then get to the right one! We stayed 2 nights 26-28 Feb 2015. This Hotel's entrance is located in a rather narrow lane which becomes a lively bar and dinner location in the evening. The Hotel is pretty standard fare and the service is... More

We spent 4 days, 3 nights in Buenos Aires at the end of March. Our stay at the Melia was great. The location is close to the main shopping street of Calle Florida and within walking distance of the Casa Rosada, Metropolitan Cathedral, and the Teatro Colon. The room was spacious and comfortable. Of special note was the front desk... More

This was the second hotel we stayed during our trip to Buenos Aires. We selected this one for its location closer to Puerto Madero and city centre pedestrian areas (shopping). This hotel is quite big (not boutique). It has also separate conference section to accommodate seminars. Service is good and overall facilities modern and in good condition. Street outside is... We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Melia. The rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel staff was excellent! We had to change rooms because we were checked into a smoking room by accident. It was no problem for the hotel to move us to another room. The staff were great at the front desk as well as the doormen. There... More

We have stayed on three occasions at the Melia Buenos Aires, and totally enjoyed all our experiences and every single one of the rooms we stayed in. The location is ideal, right in downtown, but easy to get to AEP, and the cruise port. EZE is half an hour away but a taxi from EZE to hotel is 400 ARS,... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
