No matter how basic or cheap, no accommodation providers should leave their guests without water. Especially busy hostels with lots of people at any given time. This is what happened at Che Lagarto: no water for a day and a half, and the staff who kept saying: media hora, media hora and it comes back! It did not. Wifi was... More

I hated the place. The shared rooms were dirty and sometimes you would find cockroaches in them, the staff moves your luggage or change you the location of your bed without even telling you. The shared bathrooms had cockroaches and if you ask if they could give you an other bathroom, the staff just say that it's not their problem.... More

The staff and services provided in the hostel were second to none. The rooms were large, spacious, cool and cleaned each day. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and catered to your every need. The area itself is very safe, I would definitely recommend this hostel.

I can't say enough about the incredible staff and environment. I met the most amazing people from all over the world whom are now considered family. The staff does a great job engaging guests prompting unity amongst travelers from all over the world. I love this company and will continue using Che lagarto as my 1st choice in hostels.

Nice people, but I did not like this place, The hotel is really noisy, the rooms are very close to each other which means it is noisy. There are better options out there, also with higher prices, the rooms are dirty with bad odors. Don't go to this hostel!

Really nice hostel with an amazing environment, nice staff and great rooms. It is a really nice place to stay in BA! Good internet and amazing garden where you can chill and enjoy the hot nights! It was a really good experience to be in Che lagarto!

We arrived on December 27th when it was crazy hot in Buenos Aires. No shared dorms had AC so it was almost unbearable to sleep or even stay inside. The bathrooms were always dirty and the beds and matresses were really old. The bar doesn't have anyone working in it and the TV "room" has only a old couch for... More

We stayed in Che Lagarto for a total of 3 nights and shared the room with 10 other people. Pros: Breakfast was pretty good. Good location. Friendly and nice staff. Cons: Music is pretty loud at night and it was very warm in the room so we had to keep the windows open, or else you have to use a... More

Everything about this hostel is average. Cleanness, staff, breakfast, location, beds. Dorms are really big and not cozy at all. There is definitely not enough bathrooms for such a big hostel and it would be nice if lockers were in better condition but for the price it is ok I guess.

This hostel was not as good as Che Lagarto in Santiago. We had problems with our booking (not our fault), then the receptionist made a mistake when taking our payment ( this was sorted the next morning). Not that clean, our towels and bed linen were dirty, not that comfortable and reception area very noisy. Our room was not smelly... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
