Worst thing about this hostel - no air con! In the middle of summer it makes for horrible sleeping conditions. Secondly, for a "party hostel" there wasn't much happening. The bar (fridge full of beer) closes at midnight and we were asked to leave the common areas at midnight on a Saturday night. Apart from that, it's fine. Cleaner than... More

Outstanding staff. Cheap, safe, clean enough, nice people from everywhere. Very well located, near calle Florida and Puerto Madero. Good restaurants, bars close and night clubs. I stayed for 5 days and only good memories. I really do recommend!!!

If you are looking for a place to party with friendly atmosphere and long nights, this is the place. If not, don't go. I was supposed to stay several days, but in the end moved to another hostel. 1. I asked for a transfer from the airport to the hotel. Upon my arrival, no one was waiting for me. I... More

Went there for three days. Occasional water or power outage but those things happen all over Argentina and the staff tried to do everything in their power to fix it. Stayed in a mixed room with bunks, people were respectful, bathrooms had nice hot water and were fairly clean. People were really friendly and there were scheduled activities everyday. To... More

The postition is not bad but it is not so close to the centre or any interesting area. The bar is nice, always busy and full of people. The social/common area is nice also. The room are big and there is a lot of space, but it is a little bit noisy as all the hostel of Che Lagarto

Reception is nice looking, but the rooms are very basic and quite old and run down, but clean enough. The showers on the other hand was bad at best. The workers are very helpful and quite nice, and so were the other travellers we met there. The breakfast is typical Che Lagarto style, which is quite diverse and tasty, especially... More

No matter how basic or cheap, no accommodation providers should leave their guests without water. Especially busy hostels with lots of people at any given time. This is what happened at Che Lagarto: no water for a day and a half, and the staff who kept saying: media hora, media hora and it comes back! It did not. Wifi was... More

I hated the place. The shared rooms were dirty and sometimes you would find cockroaches in them, the staff moves your luggage or change you the location of your bed without even telling you. The shared bathrooms had cockroaches and if you ask if they could give you an other bathroom, the staff just say that it's not their problem.... More

The staff and services provided in the hostel were second to none. The rooms were large, spacious, cool and cleaned each day. Reception staff were friendly and helpful and catered to your every need. The area itself is very safe, I would definitely recommend this hostel.

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
