My wife, two-year-old daughter, and I spent four nights at Alvear Palace in March 2015. It was fantastic. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. The location is amazing. And the rooms are impeccable. We look forward to returning.

Stayed there last weekend for the unpteenth time and didn't regret it one bit. I actually made a reservation at one their new sister hotels, the Alvear Art Hotel, but fortunately caught myself and canceled in favor of the real thing. From the moment you enter the Alvear's elegant old world lobby, you feel like royalty. Located in the prime... More

When we arrived the woman behind of the reception was really nice and friendly. When we went to the breakfast on the 1st morning, the service (males) was really arrogant and not friendly at all. We said it to the person behind the desk. She was nice and she did know how to smile. Next morning’s the service was nice... More

this is a beautiful property in BA, within walking distance to a lot of attractions. however, i feel there isn't a lot happening around this area at night. the hotel itself is beautifully French, and i especially like the lobby and F&B outlets. the service is good but can be very snobby which is actually a turn off. it just... Of course it's expensive, so if you're a budget traveler don't even think about it! If you complain about prices, this is not for you. If you like luxury and want the best, this is for you. We stayed one night and I wish I could have stayed a week. We paid about $650 US or so. There was a... More

This place is a Palace, and the staff made me feel like Royalty. It's a bit pricey, as most things are in Buenos Aries that are geared toward tourists, but it is worth every penny. The city itself feels like old-world Europe, and this hotel would be the old-world castle. Very romantic for couples. May unnerve some younger travelers, especially... More

This is a dream hotel in a beautiful area of Buenos Aries. The public areas are imposing and the service is excellent. Our room turned out to be a suite of grand proportions with a large sitting room, enormous bedroom, beautifully appointed bathroom and a powder room. A bowl of fruit and bottles of water were provided. The buffet breakfast was excellent... More

This is a magnificently maintained classic hotel built in the 1930’s and is one of Buenos Aires’ great hotels today. You feel style and class as soon as you walk into the sumptuous lobby and become engulfed in the elegance. The Alvear Palace is well located in La Recoleta, a refined district of the city that boasts charming restaurants, shops... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighborhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterized by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighborhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centered on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
