I wouldn't normally make a 2nd review of Alvear hadn't it been for the exceptional service performed by Ms Salvagno after my husband forgot in the safe some papers a checkbook and atm cards. She sent them by Fed EX ,everything came perfectly.I cannot understand how anyone can say staff is rude ,they go out of their way ,except one lady... more

Pompous and arrogant staff at a beautiful hotel. Shame the staff ruins the complete experience however there are many other well located hotels in B.A. to include Park Hyatt and Four Seasons. Unpleasant and unhelpful team. more

I stayed at the Alvear for a work program for 8 days - service is flawless. The entire staff from front desk to butlers are amazing. I live in San Diego and tend to be somewhat casual - be prepared, dress codes are important. No shorts for dining (that includes breakfast), shirts/dresses with sleeves are requested. They don't say anything... more

What a great hotel, staff were excellent, rooms spacious and up to date with 'butler' service to attend to your every whim. Fruit and flowers replaced every day. Best breakfast we have ever had anywhere served in a stunning conservatory. also had great dinner at hotel restaurant La Bourgogne. more

There used to be many hotels like the Alvear, but as its brethren old greats underwent "Year Zero" restorations, wiping away their history in the process, the Alvear Palace Hotel took a different route to find itself very much alone. It is not that the Alvear has not been modernised or refurbished; each comfortable room includes all the latest mod-cons... more

We stayed for 3 nights. Our stay was OK, but given what we paid, it should have had the wow factor. Good things are: impressive entrance hall, excellent concierge, efficient check in and a very good location. But when we saw our room, expecting something spectacular, my heart sank. It was just bland with tired floral decorations, dark and rather... more

Our stay at the Alvear Palace Hotel was the best hotel experience that we have ever had and Buenos Aires was wonderful. We stayed at the Alvear over the Christmas Holiday and recieved excellent service and an overall warm reception from every one on their staff. Our favorite things about the hotel were spending the early evening around 8pm in... more

Over the course of a week I stayed at the Alevar Palace, in Buenos Aires, twice. Twice my sleep was disrupted by a Mexican guest and a band he brought back to his room. On my 2nd visit they rolled in at 4am and stayed playing loud enough for me to hear it 2 floors away. I called and front... more

We enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Alvear Palace. It reminded us of the St. Regis in NYC -- elegant, formal, historic, pricey, and very well run. The location is great for site-seeing. The only quibbles: somewhat dated fitness/spa facilities, and uneven service in first-floor courtyard dining room. During the same visit to South America, we also stayed at the... more
