This is a great luxury hotel very well located in a safe/nice neighborhood near the center of Buenos Aires. Great customer service, nice rooms (although a bit small), very comfortable beds, large bathrooms. A great place to stay!

Just spent Christmas at the Sofitel. The service is faultless and the food is great but the rooms are small and on the lower floors have no views and are dark. We had a Deluxe Suite where a great deal of space was taken up with a long corridor. The sitting room was very small and we could hear everything... More

Wow! The Sofitel in Buenos Aires is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. We called ahead and had someone pick us up at the airport; the driver was on time AND spoke English. The room was really nice; the bed was super comfortable and the room service was great. Definitely 5 star. One of the things... More

The Sofitel is in a beautiful building in charming and convenient Recoleta. The service is simply perfect, very attentive and kind. I want to stay here everytime I go to Buenos Aires.

If one word could sum up our 6 night stay in this hotel it would be : impeccable. For the front of house staff nothing was too much trouble. A request to watch a local rugby match was accomodated with pleasure, tickets and a driver arranged with delight. Room, food and all other staff were equally praiseworthy. This a beautiful,... More

I was a very loyal Alvear Palace client then moved my business to the Four Seasons when the Alvear was being refurbished. A good friend recommended the Sofitel and I have no regrets with staying there. It is ideally located: close enough to stroll over to Florida and also not that far from Recoleta.

I recently traveled to Buenos Aires with my friend and we stayed at this property. I must say that I was extremely impressed with every last detail. The staff was most attentive and the exchange rate given is most unusual (they were offering more than the published currency exchange with NO commission). Their suggestions were well thought out, catering to... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
