My fiancé and I stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights and we enjoyed it.. It is 1.5 blocks away from the main st of San telmo but towards the end on a quieter side.. You have to be careful where you walk at night but that's the same everywhere you go and also Mariano at reception gave... More

We began our trip in Argentina with 3 nights at Dante. Everyone on the staff was really friendly and helpful with information both in-town and for our trip out of town as well. The room was a clean and basic with no-frills. We really enjoyed staying in San Telmo for its character and restaurants. We also felt quite safe and... More

We really enjoyed our stay here - we stayed for only 1 night (in transit from Colonia and traveling further to El Calafate). The lobby and room look very modern and slick - we really loved the style of the hotel. We didn't get to see the breakfast as we were leaving early in the morning for the flight. We... More

I spent 6 nights total at the Dante Boutique. when you first get there- you think that this location sucks- across the street from the autopista- but upon further examination it was fine- and I am an older woman traveling alone. The hotel is small - only 9 rooms but the rooms are well furnished and very comfortable. My bed... More

I'm sitting in my room without aircon. It's a heat wave outside, but no aircon in the rooms. We had a power outage this morning for a few hours. They told me that the whole city was out, but shops up the street had power. Anyway the power is back on but not the aircon. The girls on reception informed... More

The Dante is in an old building but feels modern and new because of the beautiful decor and lively staff. Some of the most helpful staff that I have encountered in latin america. Always smiling and ready to help an old man navigate his way through a big city. The breakfast was nice and the airconditioning a plus since the... More

A modern, affordable hotel, large comfortable rooms and modern bathrooms in an awesome location! Great staff and service. If you are going to stay in this area then defiantly stay here! The staff are so friendly we even stay in touch with a few of them months after being there! Maybe the breakfast had a little to be desired. But this... More

Just has 3 weeks in Argentina travelling all over. Used some 5 star hotels but none a patch on Dante Boutique. Staff were so helpful especially with special requests. Nothing was too much trouble. Stayer here over 3 separate weekends so got to use all room sizes and quality was great. Stayed in San Telmo 6 years ago and wished... More

This is a modern hotel in an old building. The rooms are big with space enough to tango. The bed was very comfortable. It's conveniently located in San Telmo, within walking distance to the center. The staff is very helpful with everything from suggestions of places to see and directions to changing money. An added plus is they all speak... More

Stayed here in November 2012 and found it through an Internet search. Great location and would recommend the area if you want to see the real BA. Lots of local steak restaurants close by. Very clean, good sized rooms and the most amazingly comfortable bed! Highly recommend a stay at Dante. Good value.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
