We stayed for 2 nights at the privet room, and the manager was nice and helpful, clean rooms, air conditioner, only problem is the noise from the street at night. But really nice place, at San telmo close to the Sunday market. The price is fair not cheep or too expensive. Recommended!

I only stayed here one night in a private double with own bathroom. It was late when i arrived and early when i left. Seemed to be clean and well serviced. Breakfast was basic but it was free! The hostel is within walking distance of the places you might like to visit. You can pay by credit card too, which... More

I am a backpacker, 37yrs old, 40+ countries visited, travelling with partner. We spent 2 nights in 3 beds dormitory and 5 nights in 6 beds dormitory for 120 peso for a bed including breakfast. We chose this hostel after seeing a few others in San Telmo area as it was best budget value for money. ROOM: 3 beds dorm;... More

We stayed in this hostel for four nights and it is one of the best places we stayed in all of South America. Our room was very spacious, the breakfast was great and the staff, Pablo in particular, was great. He was incredibly helpful, didn't laugh at my horrendous Spanish, and gave us lots of tips about the city -... More

We arrived in Buenos Aires to find our hostel had closed. A friendly hotel owner across the street directed us to some hostels in the area. We checked a few out, found them dingy and dank, and continued to Che Argentina. Immediately, from the polished white entry staircase to the bright clean lobby, I liked this hostel. We had 6... We spend two nights in Che Argentina and were really satisfied. In short: very friendly and accomodating staff, excellent and safe location, bakery with enpanadas across the street, good working wifi, basic breakfast, nice building, walking distance to San Telmo Bar zone and market, spotless clean. Only some traffic noise but not a big deal.

Stayed at Che Hostel for just over a week and found it the perfect location for exploring San Telmo and the rest of Buenos Aires. However, it was Pablo Divi who really made the hostel and experience memorable! During our first week at the hostel he took me, my boyfriend and a fellow traveller to a Greek bar and then... More

If you are a more particular traveler, I suggest you look elsewhere. Che is for those who are okay not getting what you pay for, which I'm not. We had an amazing 8-day stay in San Telmo, no thanks to Che. I made the reservation based on two key assurances: 1. The room would have air conditioning. 2. The lobby... More

The hostel is very nice, calm and clean. Everyday your stuff get arranged. The bathroom is also clean and the breakfast is also good. Bread, marmelade and coffee. The people here are very easy going and trustful. But here are not a lot foreigners and it is not crowded here. It is a little loud in the morning because of... More

Very nice place and perfect location to visit the city, near metro, really friendly staff, decent and clean rooms, good basic breakfast, maybe a bit of noise from the street, but all by all it was a very pleasant stay. Thanks

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
