Arrived with Expedia reservation for three nights. One of the residents let us is. This place is not currently functioning as a hotel "rented out to working families." No staff, money taken. Full refund from Expedia. Apparently this and the sister hotel has been closed for two months. Avoid!!!!

Dirty room and bad neighborhood. Small TVs, dust everywhere, small nasty bathrooms and gaudy murals all over the place. Place did not meet expectations. Good complimentary breakfast is only redeeming factor at this place.

We stayed for five nights and loved it. The hotel is uniquely decorated - we had a vibrant mural covering two of the walls in our room. The bathroom was nicely decorated in marble and there were French windows leading out onto a small balconette. The view was just of the street, but it enabled us to let in some... More

The best part of this hotel was by far the extremely helpful staff: they provided directions, assistance with taxis and transfers from the airport, restaurant recommendations, and advice for travelers. Christian even gave us a quick Spanish lesson as the Spanish spoken in Argentina differs from that spoken in Mexico. More notable qualities are the location and the charming artwork... More

This hotel is really fantastic, from the old style decoration to the helpful and courteous desk workers, everything was amazing. I was very impressed with the desk staff because they were able to answer every question that I had and spoke very good English for my parents' sake. They even went so far as to help us find a steak... More

What a delight for the eyes is through the doors of this hotel. It doesn't look like much from the outside but as soon as you are buzzed in, a delight to the eyes awaits the charming and funky decor that fits in with nearby Caminito in La Boca. Taxis can be called for by the front desk and walking... More

This hotel is in the San Telmo district and is just a short walk from Plaza de Mayo, one of the main tourist attractions in Buenos Aires. The room was clean and functional if a little on the small side. The decoration, full wall murals, was certainly different from any other room I've ever stayed in. The bed was comfortable,... More

The hotel is definitely quirky, but we absolutely loved it, loved San Telmo and would stay here again without question. A different mural on every bedroom wall and various "figures" dotted around the place (Maradonna, Che Guevara plus others) added to its charm plus it is excellently positioned for sightseeing in BA. We walked to Caminito (La Boca) which you... More

I chose this hotel due to the outrageous hotel prices at other locations. The Good - the hotel is in a convenient BA location fairly close to many areas and Internet and wifi are offered free; the breakfast buffet is more than adequate. The Funny - the hotel décor is somewhat interesting, numerous figures are located throughout the hotel and... More

Excellent hotel, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful upstairs deck, affordable laundry, and easy bookings for local tango shows made this a wonderful stay in Buenos Aires. I loved the unique artwork--murals in the rooms and statues of Argentine figures placed throughout the hotel. The breakfast buffet got a little old after a week, but it was sufficient. Also, it very... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
