We stayed in this Hostal for abour three weeks and felt very welcome all the time. The stuff is so great and helpful (especially Juan, we would like to take him with us :)). The breakfast is fantastic and with a huge variety. You get three different kinds of bread, juice, coffee, tea, cereals, kakao, fruits, marmelade, cream chesse, butter...as... More

We stayed in a spacious private room with a big bathroom, up on the third floor. It was all clean, but the whole place could do with repainting etc, and the bathroom fixtures were a bit rusty. The staff were helpful, and the breakfast (for Argentina!) was good. It is really well located right by Lima subte stop. It felt... More

Well, this hostel proved to be the hardest to review so far I have stayed here for 4 nights after traveling in South America already 5 months. Honestly it can be great or total disaster depending on personal luck. It deserves very good rating for number of things but for others terrible seems too generous. I ve ranked it average,... More

We were at the Ritz Hostel in late November 2013. We came in from London, caught a Manuel Tenda bus for 90 Pesos. It took us to their depot in BA. They then put us onto a free taxi to the Ritz. The Ritz is a very large building in the very centre of BA. The rooms are large. The... More

We stayed in this this hostel at the beginning of December 2013. On our second night everything was stolen from our locker including dollars, passports, iPad, laptop, kindle, bank cards and camera. The staff were extremely helpful and gave us the money we had paid for our lodging to live on whilst we were trying to get everything sorted out.... More

It's really downtown, besides a little bit old,it's cozy and the staff is really good and simple. They give you all the support necessary and help you get around the city. The breakfast is also good. Even downtown, it's really quiet and you can also relax.

At about USD 9 a night really good value. Nice breakfast. Wi-fi. Great location walking distance to main attractions like Plaza Mayo, Obelisk and downtown. Subte or subway at doorstep. Helpful staffs who helped to print ferry and bus tickets. Room has heater. Bathroom has nice hot water. The only negative comment is the low headroom at the lower bunkbed.... More

The hostel is really well situated, at the heart of Buenos Aires. Everything you need to see is close to the hostel. The staff is incredibly nice, we laughed a lot with all of them. The estructure of the building is amazing, old fashioned way. I went with some friends and we stayed in a dorm, everything was clean and... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
