Its a beautiful old hotel that has been transformed into a hostel. Right on one of the most important intersections in Buenos Aires, 9 de Julio and Av de Mayo (the road connecting the presidents house and Congress). There is tons to do and the staff are all incredible, knowledgeable, and friendly. If you decide you dont feel like doing... More

We stayed here for five nights, and to sum it up - we wouldn't come back here. In overall, the hostel looks good and it does have an amazing location at the center of the city with public transportation to anywhere, BUT we had quite a frustrating stay. There were a few good things though - It's cheap (100 pesos... More

I stayed and worked at this hostel for 6 weeks. I absolutely loved every minute of it. The manager and fellow staff were amazing. The hostel is in an awesome location in the city, had the best breakfast I've had at any hostel in South America and a great DJ at the bar. I would recommend this hostel to anyone... More

I travel mainly to meet new and interesting people. I´ve been travelling in South America and can safely say this was one of my favourite hostels (of about 20) for that reason. The staff are all extremely friendly and fun and there's loads of them so always someone to hang out with when they're off duty. There is also a... More

This hostel has by far one of the best lounge/social areas Ive ever seen. The area has a bar to buy drinks, a pool table to play, a TV, and multiple sofas/chairs to sit down with friends and have a good time. The price that you pay is a great value, especially when you consider its great location. Their included... More

Just stayed two nights at this horrible hostel. There really was no redeeming features about the hostel. It was an old building and really dark inside. The reception is on the second floor and they simply buzz anyone in. Last night two guys came into my dorm room and simply walked around it! The noise is probably the worst aspect... More

The hostel is located in a nice old building, just a ten minute walk from Plaza de Mayo. We stayed in a dorm, with just fine space, and clean. The staff is very friendly, and the breakfast buffet included is good (toast + spreading, including dulce de leche, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee, tea). We had a small misunderstanding with one... We stayed at the Ritz hostel in BA for 6 nights and it was awesome! Rooms are spacious and beds are really comfortable, the common room is a great place to chill and the location is perfect. Juan, the manager is super helpful and a great host. Fernando behind reception is also a legend! Fully recommend you to stay here... More

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
