This hostel was fantastic value for money. We had a massive private room for an amazingly cheap price. The location was perfect, staff were great, and the room was quite clean. One of the main issues with the hostel is the kitchen. They have one working burner for the whole hostel. This could easily be fixed if they buy a... More

My friends and I stayed at The Ritz from 21 - 25/11/15. The location is perfect with fantastic views spreading along the main strip, as well as being on Av. de Mayo which was a short walk to most of the must sees and must dos. Our rooms were spacious with a private bathroom in each (although this may not... More

Comfy beds, quiet enough rooms (street noise drowned out with ear plugs no problem). A few issues: 1) No enough bathrooms - there are 2 bathrooms (each with toilet & shower) for each floor, with around 10 rooms per floor. We're in a dorm with 6 beds - not sure how many other dorms vs. doubles the other rooms are.... More

We arrived at the Ritz after an overnight bus journey from Mendoza and a metro to the Ritz. Our double room was ready for us at Noon and we gratefully had a short sleep. The Ritz hostal is in the old Ritz hotel building. It retains many of the old hotel features in its lift and in its bathroom fittings.... More

The room and facilities were very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was good for centre proximity and transportation links. The pool table and breakfast were a big bonus too. The wifi could be slow during peak times though.

The hostel is in the perfect location, to get around Buenos Aires, close to landmarks and attractions as well as the metro and bus lines to get about. The hostel itself, great communal area, and brilliant breakfast. The staff were really helpful, however I'm pretty sure a maid stole my t shirt! The bathrooms could do with some maintenance but... Friendly staff. Good value and perfect location right off AV 25 de mayo. Highly recommended. Ended up staying 3 weeks and met great people. It is run very well and the people want you to experience BA. The building is lovely and dorms are spacious. Also the bar is really great place to meet people.

Perfectly situated in the center of the city, the Ritz is a very chill hostel with a friendly staff and a solid breakfast! Everything that is anything in Buenos Aires is within walking distance. I was only going to stay here for 3-4 weeks but ended up staying for nearly 2 months!

Staying in Montserrat

Neighborhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighborhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
