I stayed one week in a single room in the ViaVia hostel. It was very lovely and cozy and I felt very welcome. The hostel has an excellent location; centered and in one of the oldest barrios: San Telmo. On Sunday there is the 'Feria de San Telmo' which is located just 33 feet away. The employees are also very... More

I really enjoyed my stay in the Via Via! It is a beautiful hostel, everyone was very friendly and I had an excellent breakfast on the terrace in the sun. It is cosy and pleasant place. The rooms are simple, very tidy with clean bedding. I slept in the dormy (=mixed room of six beds, cheap) and there where two... More

awfully grumpy waitress (restaurant next door is part of the hostel) and very basic breakfast but buenos precios, very clean and equipped with AWESOME mattresses. if you come to argentina during the summer, however, you might want to get a room with air-conditioning..

Great location in the heart of San Telmo, beautifully renovated building with nice living room, grand balcony looking over the area and clean rooms & bathrooms. We planned to stay here for 3 days but ended up staying 12. The staff is very nice and helpful and the food downstairs is excellent. Energetic vibe during the weekend in an area... More

Beautiful place and friendly staff, in interesting neighbourhood but absolutely avoid the weekend: very loud bar downstairs and a party room literally next to your room will keep you up all night. Literally: it's 4u30 as we speak

It is a nice and clean place, the staff was friendly and the location is magic. I stayed for 2 days, the girls were pretty, the music on the street nice and Mafalda, always as we want to see her, splendid even if wearing green. There is police in front of the hostel 24hours a day.

I've went there to stay in the hostel some nights. The rooms were very clean, I had a nice bed and the shared bathrooms were neat as well. The breakfast was great: toast, orange juice and truely incredible coffee! The best I've had so far in Argentina! The hostel is quite small, only 6 rooms, and this makes it very... More

The staff in the hostel gave me a warm welcome. They were very friendly and helped me finding lovely tours in the city, the tour they recommended me (Bycicle Tour) was the perfect way to explore this huge city! I loved my stay in this clean hostel!

The staff is very friendly and the food is nice and not expensive. The rooms are comfortable and clean. If I go back to Buenos Aires I will choose this again!

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
