We stayed at Reina Madre after escaping the insanity of Hostel Suites on La Florida. It was a breath of fresh air with comfy beds and a wayyy better location. The owner was great and made an effort to get to know us despite the language barrier! The hostel is super clean and has an adorable cat :) It includes... More

The Reina Madre is located in one of the safer neighborhoods in Buenos Aires: Recoleta. It is also located minutes to the Aguero subway stop. There is a supermarket called Cotto nearby which has a buffet style take out. The dorms are air conditioned which is a big plus during the hot summer in Buenos Aires. WifFi is available on... More

I booked this hostel because of the positive review. We had a nice double room with air conditioner and locker, and shared bathrooms were next to our room. The room was simple but clean. The owner was friendly and helpful, he recommended us a nice restaurant when on the day we arrived in BA. Also, he showed us interesting places... More

The hostel is good, well located in Palermo/Recoleta on a safe street with bars and restaurants close by. Both the common areas and dorms are good and clean, air conditioning in dorms. Good kitchen and breakfast. The only thing that was strange to me is that they charged you 15% more if you paid with credit card (some argentinian friends... More

we had a nice double bedroom, with aircon and locker. Shared bathrooms were clean and plentiful so no queuing! Staff were a bit hot and cold with us - sometimes letting us but a beer on our room tab, other times making us pay up front but on the whole it was a pleasant stay. Good roof terrace to eat... More

Hostel Reina Madre was nice. It was beastly hot when I was in Buenos Aires and the air-con was not working in my room. However, the fan worked well and because of the high ceilings in the room, I was able to sleep well. It was in a beautiful old building in a good location--you are pretty much at the... More

The location was in a safe neighbourhood, I travelled alone and didn't feel intimidated going out at night. I had a very good nights' sleep for the five nights I stayed there, the breakfast was simple, tasty and there was enough of everything. There was a self-catering kitchen where you could make food, the bathrooms and bedrooms were always clean... More

I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel! The staff is really helpful, especially Juan Manuel who also cooked for us a delicious asado on the beautiful rooftop terrace on Christmas Eve. The rooms and bathrooms (about 3 of them on each floor) are clean, and the bed is very comfortable. As noted by other people, it is also quiet... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighborhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterized by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighborhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centered on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
