Stayed in a private room for three nights. It was clean and comfortable. Very basic but you get your money's worth. There's a good area near reception for mingling and a nice pool area. Staff are friendly but I wouldn't think much of the breakfast. Lots of pastries if you like that kind of thing. Some cereal, mixed fruit and... More

I stayed here 3 nights. The reception staff speak good English, and are very helpful and friendly, showing me street maps, ordering an airport pick-up, etc. This is a great place to hang-out. There is a street-side enclosed table area if you want quiet, 2 internet PCs, sofa, and 2 tables in the lobby area with TV, and in the... More

The place was fresh, new and clean. The breakfast was nicer than average but nothing too special. The wifi was good enough to have a Skype call from my dorm. Downside was that space did not encourage travellers to mingle much.

How could I hope for a pool in the centre of this great city? But it was there and hot in winter! Great rooms, and the staff was the best. Paola, a great receptionist! Rafa, the man! and they took care of me when I most needed it. Will always return when in BA.

Nice place and cheap. Not good internet though. Located in a nice area. Staff is very helpful and polite. San Telmo seems a little bit dangerous when you first arrive, but I didnt have any problem. Very good to walk around, sort of close to subway lines.

Circus Hostel & Hotel is in a great spot, just 2 blocks from the San Telmo market and a 15 minute walk from Plaza de Mayo and other sights. San Telmo seems a little bit dangerous when you first arrive (or at least for me coming from Canada!), but once you realize that graffiti is a way of life and... More

My friend and I stayed at the Circus Hostel at the end of January this year. The rooms were decent and clean, with AC, but there was some confusion with our booking and the number of people per dorm. A couple of members of staff didn't seem particularly helpful at first but overall people were friendly. The pool was definitely... More

Really nice hostel! Much more like a hotel. Clean rooms, nice pool, comfy places to hang out. I really enjoyed my stay there!!! And super friendly and helpful staff! Five stars for sure. San Telmo is the best neighborhood to stay in, in my opinion. So much going on!

I stayed 1 night. Stuff very helpful. Nice small pool. Bathroom clean and new. For me one thing was missing - a kitchen with fridge. I had to get up early to catch my flight and couldn't prepare a breakfast for myself.

Nice small hostel in San Telmo. Room was fine could do with some work air conditioning wasn't working in our room and it smelled a bit fubky. Nice small pool out the back. Breakfast was OK too with bread and pastries. Nice market in San Telmo on a Sunday.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
