We chose Casa Calma based on their excellent Trip Advisor reviews, and it definitely lived up to the expectations. They arranged a transfer from the airport ($25 USD, a little more expensive than a taxi but saves you the concern about being scammed by a taxi driver, which is apparently common). On arrival, we were greeted by Rodrigo and Diago,... More

CasaCalma was a real delight. We were only in town for 3 nights, but they were very helpful and very friendly. The room was super (we stayed in 602): comfortable bed, very nice bath area. Although "downtown," you'd never know it. Close to many of the "sights". We'd definitely stay here again on our next trip to BA!

The SERVICE WAS IMPECCABLE . All the staff were super attentive and friendly. I think they have an excellent system of passing on information amongst themselves as they all seem to be aware of a request the guests make. For example, after I checked into my room on the courtyard side, I requested to move to the street side by... More

This hotel is an example of how an hotel should be. Large rooms ( only two per floor), comfortable beds, quality furniture and fittings. Space in the bathroom to lay everything out, double spa bath, shower large enough to turn round in. The staff are extremely efficient and friendly, they can't do enough for you. Well located for many of... More

We stayed her for three nights in February and chose this hotel based on the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel - the breakfast, the staff, the location, the cleanliness of the rooms, their concierge service - everything was excellent. I left the safe open one day when we left for our outing... More

Overall, a great hotel. We chose this hotel based on location and TA reviews. Location: quiet side street, however, Retiro is centrally located in Buenos Aires so hotel is convenient to get to all neighborhoods. Rooms: Clean and spacious. Shower is powerful. Lighting in bathroom could be better and mattresses are too soft. Breakfast: Adequate continental breakfast. Service during breakfast... More

Our stay at Casa Calma was fantastic. The staff were so friendly, always helpful and could all speak English. Our room was large and clean. We dined at 3 of the restaurants on their recommended list and they were excellent. We had an early morning flight the day we left so they packed a breakfast for us to eat at... More

Small boutique hotel offering peace in the centre of bustling Buenos Aires. Great room, very comfortable bed, exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. This hotel had lots of previously great reviews which normally means I can have high expectations and be disappointed. Not in this case my expectations were exceeded.

Thank you Florencia for our wonderful stay while in Buenos Aires! Great room, great breakfast, great banking at the front desk, wonderful location! Everyone at Casa Calma was ready to help us with anything we needed while in BA. The best part was getting us tickets to the Ballet at Teatro Colon. The highlight of our visit! Thank you, Thank... Trip Advisor reviews were all very positive so booked in here for a pre-cruise stay of 2 nights - wish it had been longer! Perfectly located for many of the tourist haunts, we arrived at nearly 3AM (after 15 hour delay at Heathrow) having been met by the hotel-sourced taxi. Full marks for monitoring our very late arrival time. Night... More

Staying in Retiro

Neighborhood Profile
Retiro
Exquisite palaces and luxurious apartment buildings combine with art galleries and exclusive boutiques to make Retiro the perfect spot for those who enjoy sophistication. However, the non-stop foot traffic to and from Retiro train and bus terminals, accompanied by the myriad of trucks leaving and arriving at the port, mean this neighborhood is never truly at rest. One minute you are walking down a street dotted with ornate mansions and luxurious shop windows and the next you find yourself surrounded by a sea of people racing to catch their train or bus. It is this juxtaposition of never-ending comings and goings and quiet, elegant luxury that defines Retiro, as well as Buenos Aires, a city where sharp contrasts are all around.
