I wanted to stay a few days, but left after 1. The staff is lovely and so is the place. Unfortunately it seems to happen that in BA the power goes out in a few blocks every now and then (not a fault of the hotel and nothing they could have done). This was the case after I checked in... More

We really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Babel. It's in a great location in the heart of San Telmo and a 20min walk to Plaza de Mayo. The atmosphere and decor of the hotel is really unique. The room was extremely clean and over looked a courtyard in the center. As there are only 9 rooms in the hotel the... More

The location is fantastic! San Telmo is the perfect place to stay in Buenos Aires; bars, restaurants, night life.. The personnel was very kind, speaking English very fluently. They were eager to help with everything (suggestions for going out, money exchange etc). The rooms were rather clean, very quiet and the hotel was elegantly decorated. I definitely suggest it!

We stay there 2 nights and we really appreciate the place. Good location , a good breakfast , nice room , maybe a bit of noise but its in the city. They have a bar at the reception. The staff is perfect bilingual. Normally I ll gave a 4 for the hotel but the staff was so nice , I... More

We booked into Hotel Babel because of the very good reviews. We had seen a few reviews on Tripadvisor that said that the hotel overbooks and others have ended up at the Hotel Babel Suites - the sister hotel which is not in as good an area and does not receive very good Tripadvisor ratings. We took the risk, which... More

Boutique type hotel. Good value for your money. One of the most comfortable beds I have slept in at a hotel. The only complaint I'd have is we were on the top floor and while in that big rainstorm 2 weeks ago there was some sort of plastic on the roof that was flapping in the wind that made it... More

This is quite a unique hotel. You have to ring the doorbell to be allowed in and you also have to wait for the front desk staff when you step out. In a way, it's nice to have that personalized service, but sometimes, you just want to get in and out without bothering anybody. The room was small and I'm... More

I booked to stay at the hotel babel boutique last Nov after carefully reviewing the rating on trip advisor. Unfortunately like other review/ travellers we had a 'maintenance problem' with the boutique hotel and they 'kindly' offered us the alternative hotel babel suites. Unfortunately we did not have long enough to look up reviews but very quickly realised like others... More

Babel was located in a great location near many bars and restaurants. The hotel was very clean and offered a fantastic breakfast in the morning. The staff made this location that much better as the receptionist was quick to point us in the direction of great restaurants and tourist destinations. I would definitely stay there again.

I loved the area, it's bars and cafes and it was a delight to stay in a traditional house. Yes, the only Windows are only the inner courtyard but for a couple of nights it felt like a far more fun place to be. The staff were all incredibly helpful and fluent in English and really tried to make the... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
